Hi all

I installed my boost gauge last night, and took the car for a quick spin for 20mins and established the following:

when flooring it, boost builds upto 25psi before it kicks in
when flooring it in 3rd and 4th, boost held at 14psi
when flooring it in 6th (upto the point i had to stop due to speed (on my private road)) it held 20psi?

What figures should I be expecting. I have a stage 1 remap, and its never put decent figures out on the rolling road (last was 230bhp). Are these figures you would expect out of a stage1?

Cheers
Dave

Rob and I have vagcom (freeware anyway) if you want to go for a run sometime?

Mine boosts to 25psi and holds around 20psi, eventually tailing off around 17/18psi I think. Wasn't really looking at the gauge when approaching redline

Dyno's normally give flywheel figures, that's the only thing. EmDee has a similar issue to you and hasn't achieved much more than you but I don't know if he found the problem. Low BHP is consistant with MAF failure which unfortunately is a common fault. I am not saying that this is your cause but it's worth checking out. I for one know that my MAF is playing up and it needs replacing but then again I feel the cambelt and tyres are more urgent. I will replace it along with a better air filter in the New Year.

Do you have a laptop? You could download V-C 409.1 for free and buy a cheap £15 cable from ebay. You won't get all the features of course but it'll allow you to see MAF readings, at least then you can cross that one off.

You need the KEY interface cable although you can use the HEX/CAN cable also on later MK1 Leons. The HEX cable also works on the MK5/6 platform too.

Something like this should do it: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-VAG-COM-4...iagnostic_Tools_Equipment?hash=item56378218d7

But Boomhauer has kindly offered to help you out :)

As far as I understand, you need to take the car out and in 4th preferably go from 20 - 25mph (slow speed but not stalling) all the way up to redline with your foot flat to the floor. Then with the logs taken by V-C, you can see the airflow rate which I believe for a mapped LCR should be around 190 - 200g/s or with a good air filter, up to 210g/s or maybe more.

If you dont mind mate that would be really helpful. Would be nice to see whats going on (or not as the case might be) with it

what remap are you running?

many maps run higher levels of boost but which reduce as you get towards the upper end of the rev range.

also once map is known, is it one where you can adjust the settings, it may be on conservative settings boost wise.
