As title really , still got this oil leak from my cam positioning sensor.
so what can cause pressure build up in the rocker cover?

the reason i ask is it looks like the cam positioning sensor is the weak point and the oil is being forced out.
now i know Revo have been diagnosing an internal oil leak in tfsi engines recently + my car is eating spark plugs , is this too much of a coincidence?

i have read that a pcv valve failure causes pressure loss not build up?

any help much appreciated.

Cause - Monday Morning Engine

Solution - New Car ;)

I have no idea about this Rob. It may be worth trying some of the techies on other forums. To be fair though your engine has seen many more issues than most so you may struggle for an answer.

Good luck though!

Excess pressure in the crank case/rocker cover can be due to poor piston rings that let cylinder compression past and pump up the crank case. A compression test will proove this. Or it could be a blockage in the EGR system not letting the crank case gasses escape and be burned off in the exhaust. I would have thought you would be in limp mode if this was the case.

Most probably you need to get your sensor sealed properly.

thanks for the reply Nath,
well the sensor had a new rubber bung 2 months ago and the garage as a quick fix silicone sealed around it which maksed the problem and not fixed it [:@]

so its going back to them for their fourth attempt at fixing it , i have done a compression test and everything was within spec , the oil is like a misting not a drip thats what led me to believe it was pressure being built up in the crankcase.
where abouts is my egr valve is it in the exhaust?
no limp mode or codes on vcds

slightly off topic, but don't you find in small cars you can rev the nuts off them and throw them about at much lower speeds than you can in the cupra and not worry about getting banned ? its been ages since i experinced understeer at 30mph like i did in the polo today :)
