They knew about it from the other driver who contacted their insurance and I had to notify my insurance that I was involved in a minor incident.

Only a scratch was caused to mine thats why I didnt claim through my insurance but they still had to be notified

Insurance went up by about £300 too which im abit annoyed about

Picked up the car today after getting the wheels redone...nice and glossy!

Gave it a wash and spruce up. Ordered a set of Goodyear F1 Assy 2's to be fitted next week along with 4 wheel alignment etc. On my way to the tyre place I was cursing my air-con for not doing it's job properly only to realise I'd not pressed the A/C button...lol. Daft tw@t! :D

:lol: my old man did the same with his BMW air con he said it didn't work I had a look and said you have to actually switch it on.
He thought as it was "automatic climate control" some magic fairy would switch it on for him :)
 
When I first switch the climate control on the A/C light is usually on (as I'm always turning it off). Must have got it out of sequence or something today. Either that or I was on autopilot and just switched it off automatically. Not a wise move in todays heat (31°c according to my MFD).
 
I'm such a cheap skate, I hate pressing the AC button.

Although, my AC seems to use an excessive amount of fuel.

I avoid using the AC if at all possible. Days like today (30+ C) I'll drive around town with the windows down. Only really use the blowers at all in the winter to clear the windows or when I'm on a motorway trip. (My daily commute is all of 4 miles, so the cabin wouldn't get warm in winter anyhow, so I drive around looking really nice in my hat :D)
 
I don't use the A/C much to be honest although when I do I can't say I notice much difference in fuel consumption. Sitting in traffic is about the only time the MPG takes a nosedive and it does that whether the A/C is off or on.

Yeah that's the thing. I have to use AC as I spend most of my time on the motorway, and I'm seeing around a 5-10mpg drop, which is around a 7-20% drop.

When I first got my Leon I thought 'ooooooh, climate', like the little aliens in Toy Story would do... and used climate all the time, but having thought about it a bit, and the fact that I don't really need climate at this time of year unless I'm on the motorway, I keep the whole thing turned off, and as a result I've upped my MPG by about 5mpg average!

Blimey, that's quite a difference! Wonder why it eats into the fuel so much. Can't be a very efficient system.

I guess it'll depend on the relative power of the car. Can't imagine they use different compressors etc for the various models, so on a more powerful car the %age of engine power used to run the AC will be less. As xreyuk has an "econobox"... You get the picture.

Putting the AC on in my old micra used to increase the idle speed by about 250rpm. Didn't use that much!
