Big eck (sorry don't know your name),

I spotted a few pics of your car earlier when you went and did what looked like a quarter mile?
You were running some Seat 17" or 18" wheels in white.

What are they and did you have to run spacers to get clearance from the callipers?

Took the car for a blast at the weekend round some Welsh rounds.

Is that the Elan Valley? I was up that way a while back, went over that dam , got out to take some pics and got attacked by a bloody dog!, ended up on the coast at Aberystwyth, went the back road route. :D car looks good, did try to persuade the GF to have another (3rd!) Red one but she wanted a different colour so blue it was!

This is a sexy looking car

Looks lush in red. CupraR trim suits certain colours very well

Cheers pal. Yea I didn't know if the trim would suit it at first but I think it makes the car look good.

I have to admit I love that Cupra in red.

Cheers Eck.

Jeeeeeeesus.

I knew ringing Admiral to get my remap and filter added on was gonna be tough, but 2 calls (first one got cut off when he was checking) and then having to go through it all again was painful!

First off he asked my why I had it remapped - I said because I can.
He put me on hold.

I was then told they dont cover remaps, but if it was a superchip it would be ok,
I asked wtf they are on about and to explain to me the rationale behind that.

He went away again to check, came back with some sort of eff'd up explanation of what the difference between an off the shelf remap and superchip was.
I said they really need to get up to speed with what people do to their cars these days if they only have a superchip category

I said just cancel my policy and I will go elsewhere

He goes away again, then comes back, asks me about the bhp numbers involved, I say roughly +25% on stock.

All of sudden they are ok to insure me for an additional £41.99

I expect my call cost will not be far off that either. Daaaaaym!

£41.99 is quite reasonable. Out of interest, how much was your yearly premium? If you don't mind me asking. Just to compare how much it's gone up by as a percentage to your initial cover. Cheers

Bear in mind though that the extra premium doesnt cover replacing the filter or remap - just keeps the car legal.

I also got stung for £111 in may (halfway through my year) for changing my policy from a 206 2.0 HDi to the Cupra which actually cost me more than if i had just cancelled the existing policy with them and moved elsewhere.

The Pug was £200, so i guess until now the total the inflated premium ive paid was £311, and now £42 to declare the mods. So thats about another 13%

The quotes for a year i was getting for a stock Cupra was on average under £300. Thats a 37 year old, 14yrs NCD protected. Car kept in yard.

What do you mean by this? If you've got extras you haven't declared that's not legal.

Im pretty sure it means exactly what I said. ;)

The bit you have quoted me on, I'm saying if I stack the car, its stolen etc, I will only get stock replacements, not like for like. Therefore, the additional money i am paying is purely to keep my insurance valid and legal, not to replace the upgraded parts.

Just didn't want anyone to think the cost of adding mods to insurance actually 'insures' the mods.

EDIT - BS beat me to it :)

Isn't that what happens normally though when you phone up to declare mods?

Ring them back up. Say to them 'why should I be paying to declare my mods if you won't replace them if something happens'

I did that with elephant before I changed to green light and they charged me 50 quid to cover my mods, but they'd only pay out to £500 quids worth (was better than nothing at the time).

its only worth it if you have a crash though really but for £50 its worth the gamble.

I think I would rather chance losing the best part of a grand NOT to have to phone Admiral up again, and pay them even more money for something which will probably not happen in the 5 months remaining before I move to a different company.

Seriously would rather kick knitting needles into my eyes than ring them again.
