Brackley, Northant's
Oil and filter service today as I try and do it every 6months tops just because. Also did a full inspection to ensure the car is ready for winter. No issues found, happy days.

Finally finished building up my r32 rear brakes for my LCR, I bough brand new r32 calipers and carriers, painted them black, got some brembo pads and drilled discs to finish it off, now I've just gotta fit them along with my TTRS front brakes !

What's the size difference of the R32 and Cupra R brakes? I thought they would be the same size like he front.

The guy I bought my mud flaps off had one like yours, same age and it has only done 16k lol

Mines on 81k now and rapidly going up each week.

Noticed my mpg has been down 2 or 3 recently. Went for a drive last night and mpg dropped by about 10mpg. Seemed to feel alot of drag so I Stopped and noticed F/N/S brake was binding.

Wasn't seized but still binding bad. Absolutely stunk, literally a split second of touching disc turned my skin yellow with a burn.

Took caliper off today to see if It was piston or sliders.

Sliders were dry and a bit dirty but not too bad

Piston dust cover/seal is a bit out of shape but still in position. It has a small slit about 2mm at the very edge where it meets the caliper (not the piston) but otherwise seems ok.

I didnt take the piston out completely but lifted the dust cover to find a small amount of rust debris. Piston was quite difficult to push back so I cleaned it out and lubed with brake fluid.

I noticed one slider boot was also swollen and deformed. (Left one)

I greased the sliders and it still seems to move reasonably freely. Not as perfect as the right one but still adequate.

All back together now, seems to be better, in fact after a drive it was the coolest disc.

As such I did the offside one too. The piston on the offside was perfect and did move a bit easier even without being lubed.

What do people think of the dust cover, should I see how it goes or get it replaced now???

It's jinxed mate, always going wrong, so unreliable. one problem after another. Still not sorted the starting issue, now the turbo again, then hit with brakes today.

Time will tell, hoping someone with some expertise will offer some advice on the state of my seals

I think r32 rears are bigger (awd and all), the ttrs fronts are great if you're a fan of warped discs :)

This is old news, the discs have been revised, they're fine.. Now anyway, plus ill eventually be going 2 piece when money allows.

Also there is reports of squealing pads, but with Evo front pads this is also resolved.

There a good option to upgrade now to be fair

Rear cupra R's are single vane around 280mm, r32 are twin vane 310. Surprised me how poor the rears we got compared to all the other VAG range.

Hit 52k miles yesterday, engine is running very nicely though, smoother than when I got it may 2013 with 18.5k on it!

Still looking into changing for a petrol next year though as I'm noticing quite a lot of regens on it now. The type of driving I do isn't kind to the DPF!

Mine has always done regens at silly times even when I got it with 19k on. I would do like a 2 hour motorway trip then the day after would pop down one junction and would do it again lol. And that was when I was doing 80% motorway miles.

Never had any lights on though which is a bonus.

I've never had lights on which is good, but still concerned about how often they're occurring lol. Ah well, bloody diesels.

I've only ever had dpf light on due to a split hose causing limp mode, other than that its been great. 81k PD170. Certainly wouldn't put me off the PD engine.

I know I'll jinx myself now lol
