what gear box?

hey have signd up for a mate who managed to put a hole in his gear box when his drive shaft broke hes had 2 new boxes and bothe have been broke or not fitted! hes got a 2.0 8v cupa gti what gear box is a suitable replacement? ne ideas where we can get hold of a gud working gear box

020 box for 8v , comes on the 2.08v and the 1.8 8v ( ithink) golf gti engine

mine just got full rebuilt for £300 , theres usually some on ebay tho

make sure he puts the flat washers on the shaft bolts they fit across 2 bolt holes at once

if you dont the bolts come undone and the shaft smacks a hole in the gearbox

easily done - done it myself

and forget using the soft as cheese vw multi spline bolts - i prefer the allen headed ford granada ones - lot tougher metal imho and a lot easier to fit/remove

is it a mk2 or 3 golf gti box? is their ne chance i cld use a 16v box if cant find an 8v?

thats what i thought mate but the 16v wont fit, i just put a hole in my gearbox mines goin in to have a direct replacement £425
