I have been trying to do some research into the Ko4-001 turbo and my search has been interesting in one thread this turbo was said to have been superseded by the Ko3s and on another it was said to be a hybrid ko4 but in Ko3 fittings, can anyone help to straighten this out for me, the simple question is, is it worth replacing my Ko3s with a Ko4-001?

In short k04-001 is basically the same as a k03s so I would say no not really worth changing. Go for a K04-022 as can get one for under £300 on ebay and EGT, not sure if K03s has one, can be fitted into downpipe if required.
 
APR are saying 245 with a k04 001..........you can ger 235 with a ko3s on a stage 2?

Seems a lot of messing about for not a lot of gain.

This is what Tony (Jamiebennett81) has. The Hybrid version is supposed to be like the KO4-023 (a la LCR) so basically you'd be looking at getting apporox 270-280 BHP with a quicker spool but still holding boost to the red line.
I doubt this would be a big enough jump for you Phil, I'd look more into doing your injectors and get a GT28R which would give you 320BHP easily.
My mate has the above turbo with INA exhaust manifold and he loves it.
For either the KO4-001 or a BT you won't have much more work to do just more cost.

So I'd say go for the GT28R, if you go for the KO4-001 you will want more power soon and kick yourself you didn't just go the whole hog the first time.

Also you'll need all that power to drag that lardy assed S3 seats around, lol
 
Thing is Willie the GT28R costs loads and I can get the K04-001 for £230 and the I’m not looking for massive power about 270-280 , I have just ordered the INA manifold from Issam also looking at a K04-022 just need to know if it will fit on the New Mani?

Pretty sure Jamie has a ko3 hybrid Willie. KO4-001 is an old standard VAG turbo which was superceeded by the ko3s.

Phil, where are you getting a ko4-001 for that price?
