Where ever the wife tells me
Been using this Forum for a few months now and I keep seeing the same issues raised.
Got me thinking what are the most common faults??
DPF? Road noise? Off centre Steering Wheel/Alignment? etc.
Maybe after a few candidates for top spot we could have a poll and find a winner
Maybe then Seat could have a wee read ;)

Don't know how to do a poll tho

DPF is all about how and where its driven - no probs here after 14k fingers crossed.
My biggest gripe is condensation in the lamps -
two headlamps replaced (after a fight to get authority under warranty)
foglamp replaced (new one no better)
rear tail lamp (only noted today so roll on Monday)

These are the faults i've had with my car (1.4tsi Reference Sport) which is a year old today.

I've just had my car serviced and had to have the side repeater dryed out, because it looked like a fish tank. Lights regularly have condensation in them and so did my old Ibiza.

Also i'm having to have a new windscreen on the warranty as it is delaminating (there is a thread on this, common fault at the moment it seems). Seat have approved a new windscreen just waiting for the dealer to sort it.

Electrical gremlins - mine drivers window kept coming down on its own yesterday so had to get the dealer to fix, their machine showed no fault and they couldn;t understand why it was doing it but works now. Again my old Ibiza did a similar thing sometimes.

Overall the cars been reliable and a pleasure to drive, i've had no creaks or squeaks and the dealer has been helpful in fixing the issues. Apart from the windscreen its just niggly things really.

Folding mirrors making horrible noises and not retracting up all the way

Ill fitting engine covers which on the Cupra can foul the fuel pump (and probably the TFSi)

Injectors on Cupras

Usual coilpacks, MAF's etc

DPF on 170 PD

Condensation in lights

Rattles

Quality of paintwork and fitment of bodywork not brilliant, especially on K1 (not a joke).

Stotty/harsh ride on FR and Cupra

Road noise on cars with 18" wheels

Quite a few (not all) dealers are not as good/accomodating as they could be

Lack of SEAT backed parts/tuning options on all models and a dim view taken to cars that have been altered from factory spec.

Was driving home the other night when the bluetooth woman started to talk to me about possible commands - out of the blue so to speak

Had the bluetooth in last car without a problem so not too bothered at the moment

The only problem I've had (touch wood) is that the engine cover mounts are useless.. They seem to dry out and perish because of the oil and heat from the engine, then the cover slips forward and pulls the dip stick out!

Have got a new set of clips now though and they look like they are a different design from the old ones.. Fingers crossed it won't happen again! :)

Yeah , I got some new ones the other week and they are made of a different material and seem a snugger fit. Only cost £3.50 for a set too!!!!

Do the condensatoin problems have anything to do with jet washing???

Possibly - either the hot water or the pressure may contribute to the problem. Its not just SEAT's but then again its not every car either . . . . . .
My new headlamps dont mist at all so there is obviously a design flaw somewhere which can be put right.
Maybe how the lenses are sealed to the lamp body?????

I've had two sets go.. Am on my third set! Thats having done 10k miles in it since I bought it. I've seen quite a few threads about it on here too. Must be colder over in NI.. Means they don't perish as much! :p

The ones that were on mine were made from very hard rubber, almost like plastic.
They were ripped and had no ar*se in the bottom of the cup. The engine cover was just flapping about.
The new ones look different and are a more pliable rubber

How exactly is the engine cover held on? To me it looks like a screw to the top left holds it and a sensor on, and there appears to be a metal clip holding it near there aswell... or it that part of a separate part?
