subframe assy some call it suspension crossmember

bolts to the floor and has the mountings on it for the suspension arms to bolt to and from the accident described its probably pushed the suspension arm back and bent it

so does this really have to be fitted or can it be left off?

if you can live with no front suspension or front wheels then ye leave it off and use bricks :p

sorry seriously though if its bent you most definately need to replace it or your car wont handle right / wear tyres out oddly etc etc

no what happend is i up graded the brakes to black diamond brakes and pads and then i'v just had my intercooler fitted so i went out with my mate for a little spin just to see how the turbo felt with the intercooler and i came down to see this blind bend in front of me i was doing about 40-45mph slamed the brakes and when i done that i got this bit point feeling through the brake pedal so i kept pumping the brakes and i had to turn right sharply just so i didn't go flying in the wall and instead i hit the curb, went up on it went back on the road and the accident repair center where it is now wants £2888.56 to fix this.

Did any air bags go off, if so that's £1000 an air bag they'll want. Suspension broke? Its an aftermarket product they could charge the earth for a replacement.

Also sound like the ABS kicked in from your discription, ever had abs? Have you tried an emergancy stop with abs before? Sounds daft but trust me it's a bit different. The vibration through the pedal can be off putting.

no luckly the air bags didn't go off so thats a gud thing. yeah my old punto had but when i breaked and kept hitting the pedal nothing was happing to slow it down.
if you want i can list all the parts that i need?

I'm the friend that was in the bear's car. He had the brakes fitted a few months back but had the intercooler fitted a couple of days before the accident.
We went for a spin and like he said we ended up doing 40-45mph, got to a blind corner, the bear slammed on the brakes but the car wasnt slowing down at all......then boom onto the curb....may well been that the Diamond brakes are poo and no good at emergency stops.
But i'm sure the bear will tell you that we found out that some of the parts ford recommended were reconditioned parts, e.g. power steering rack....
So was the car 'reconditioned' at some point in its life.......

i had black diamond's on my vts and couldnt fault them at all.

never had to do an emergancy stop with the abs yet.... been told its weird like the peddle hits back or some ****
