the red cable is for my Ampcheshire cat said:that's your EGR valve the diaphram inside contrpls the exhaust gas entry into the inlet manifold at idle and at cruise, remove the pipe inset a 1/2" nail head first and replace the pipe, that's if you want to disable it and keep your manifold clean, the spindle and arm just above and left is the antishudder valve which only operates on shut down for a few seconds and then returns to normal

black pipe to "UFO" pull it off - insert nail, head first ensuring head of nail is a snug fit, leave approx 1/8" sticking out ( for removal if necessary) point of nail into UFO hole as you push the rubber pipe back onto ufo job donemoditsteve said:the red cable is for my Amp

EdButler said:Whew, thanks for the feedback!I need to do mine properly rather than using VAG COM just to turn it down.
this is a fair point, If I was starting again, I would fit a solenoid valve in the control line (pipe) to switch off when warmed up in winterEdButler said:Disadvantage:
Engine warms up slower.
Any other input welcomed, im sure theres something ive got wrong/missed
