The £60 Karcher from Argos does the job - I use it all of the time and it's great! Also produces thick snow foam, should you want to buy a lance

Saying that, i bought a karcher last week from tescos and the water was leakin from the gun so was losing loads of pressure. Took it back though and bought a karcher k2.87 worked out £55 i think.
Will give it a go in abit and see if its any better.

Had a go with the karcher k2.87 today. Firstly the gun didnt leak so no pressure lost which was a good start.
As far as a budget pressure washer i think it does the job. The hose is longer than the pressure washer i had before so saved me carrying it every 2minutes. I'd recommend it if your on a budget.

karcher are a good brand and motors.also you can get a mac from bnq wich are strong motors and a bit cheaper and foam lances are available.

STIHL RE270K HIGH-PRESSURE WASHER is what I use, very powerful...bit too powerful to be hones!
So much so I deliberately removed all the paint work from my mountain bike using it, saved me hours instead of sanding! I always use the foam attachment and spray from a distance to avoid jetting water in places it shouldn't be, like the headlamps.
I think handwashing is the best way to clean a car, pressure washers are a bit crude, they just spread the dirt about rather than totally remove it.
they are good for tyres wheel arches and underneath the car/ rinsing, but for a real clean finish, get your bucket and sponge out!

I got a karcher 2.78 (something like that) the 55quid one from tesco. Only had a quick play with it last night but it seems good, quiet but still powerful, without loads of sprayback!

Couldn't agree more, pressure washers have a role in shifting caked on mud under wheel arches or cleaning block-paved drives but treat the bodywork gently - a sheepskin mitt is even kinder than the good old sponge. I was actually advised by SEAT Wolverhampton a while ago to not use a pressure washer as it can lead to the CupraR badge getting infiltrated and eventually totally discoloured - they did replace them F.O.C. and I've moved onto a K1 which is pampered and has never seen the pressure washer !
Dont mean to be rudelance but i dont think SEAT will have as much cleaning knowledge as people on DW.
I use my pressue washer to rinse the car and then use it with my foam lance which breaks down the dirt nicely before i wash it.
As for using a sponge, i dont think that is a very good idea. Can cause alot of damage using one of them. Each to teir own i suppose though.

Can't really comment on the jetwasher on special offer, but I thought an illuminating feature on 5rh Gear might be worth this forum listening to - nothing radical but perhaps a surprising outcome of their test and a reminder to be careful ! Whichever way you wash your car Mr Grit is always waiting !
