just a quick question for you all. i am thinking of fitting the stereo out of my pug in to my leon, just thought i'd ask you how easy it will be and what i will need to do it. what i really like to do is use the radio that is already in it or do i need to fit my alpine head unit ? i would like to fit two amps, sub, six and half inch components with crossovers that i have. will they fit or do i sell them and get something els? :help:

sorry i cant help, but is this to drown out the sound of the diesel clatter?

i personally think the standard stuff is good enough. obviously if you've got some good kit it would be even better.

you CANT use the OEM h/u, as it doesn't have pre-outs, you need to use an after market one if you want to run amps..... no other way around it i'm affraid

on my amp it has a speaker input but i would have to a buy a lead to do this and as this amp is a alpine that has an output as well i could use that for the input of the sub amp

thanks

speaker wire to one amp then pre outs to the sub amp. coz i was fed up taking the front with me everywhere when i was in my pug.

you can run the speaker wires from the H/U to one amp, then link the amps via the pre-outs, but it won't be very good... especially the sub dedicated amp, because it will be trying to operate like a speaker, as thats the signal it is recieving... you need to hook the sub-amp up to a dedicated sub pre-out from the H/U....

Does your H/U not have 2x preouts? Best bet would be to run 2x separate phono cables (one to each) to them. Being an Alpine, I am surprised if it doesn't have a subwoofer dedicated preout to be honest, they are normally very good for that.

Whatever you do make sure you either have a sub preout, a low pass filter on the amp or a crossover between amp and sub or it won't last very long.

You can link first amp using one of those speaker wire adaptors but as already mentioned its not the best idea especially as the standard speakers are pretty good anyway.......in fact I've not seen one of these adaptors for years, can you still get them?

not even worth worrying about, as its a sh!t alrernative... just get proper RCA cables, that do the best job....

If your spening all this moneys and efforts just do it properly instead of cuttings corners...

Its like getting a stage 2 remap all the mods for it, hitting 300+ BHP then putting cr@p tyres on it... just wont do the justice it deserves....

yeh, they are, depends if you got the cheapest one or not... the one i got ages ago, was one of the cheapest alpine h/u's and only had one.... where as I now have the MacDaddy iDA-X305... its got 3!!!!

That's some H/U. I have two on my Pioneer CD/AUX/USB/SD doo dar but I can't be bothered to lay the subwoofer wiring. I didn't care about prev cars and I removed most of the inside but I am scared about drilling things in this one. I heard you can put the power lead in by the pollen filter but I don't want to disturb that in case it lets water in.

The SEAT sounds are amazing mind you, can get much better for door components, needs a small sub take the strain off of them a little and it'd be perfect. I wish a sub was an OEM option, like the S3.
