what software/ lead for mk4

as title, with regard to vag-com what software level do I download and what cable do I buy for my mk4 fr petrol

I have done a search, I am surprised I didn't find the answers

what are you after from the vag com. just logging or fault code scanning, ive got an old lead that i used on a very old laptop, im still using 311 worked fine on ibiza and my r32.

is it a serial port lead or usb port lead you would need nath? ive got usb ones off ebay from company called alpha bid, come from america cost about 15 quid not had a problem with them.

I'm just after the basic stuff on vag-com just to be able to reset faults and turn off air bag lights and scan for faults

is the old lead that you have a usb type or a serial port type

so 311 is the version of vag-com you use


also the hex, key and micro-can is confusing me

ive got 311 and can reset fault codes turn alarm plip on and so on, old cable is serial
