Ok in an attempt to haul this thread back on topic, lowering the car seems to be the most logical step forward, then I can stick some 18's on her.
However, i'm the ultimate novice when it comes to car modding. never done it before but gotta start somewhere eh?
So most of you recommend the Eibach Sportlines, which model/type/size whatever do I need?
How would I get them fitted? buy them and take them to a local shop like Awesome GTI etc, maybe even buy from them? (dont see them on the website though)
When it comes to putting some 18's on, what do I need to look out for, I keep reading about spacers and the like, I was under the impression I just buy them and stick them on, but if I need spacers or whatever i'm gonna have to do some research...
Anyway back to the lowering side of things, what sort of price (buying & fitting) and I looking at? in the region of £200?

The springs are around £160/180 and fitted will cost about £299 incl vat ,, well thats what I got quoted from AMD is Essex

"lowering up to approx. 50 mm"
Do you pick how low you want them to go and have them cut accordingly?
I don't just wanna jump in with 2 feet and miss out something crucial
In my head I just buy the lowering springs, get somebody to fit them and hey presto!

I would buy them from who ever is to fit them, and I've herd you should never get springs "cut" buy the right size first , I'm going for a 35/40mm drop what ever AMD recommend for my car and let them sort the details out,,
Lol no do not go cutting springs. Sportlines will be fine with your FR dampers. I got mine done at awesome had no problems, go look on the awesome section of this forum and ask for a quote, Al should get back to you same day.

I wouldn't have actually gone cutting the springs was just unsure how you changed the size, was common sense really that you buy the size you want haha 
I've looked into that a bit more, too expensive to worry about that really.
I'll just buy a LCR with one on in a few years when I replace this.

Am going to try and paint my calipers, something relatively simple.
I'm going to purchase some jack stands, but not sure which are decent and if I need a specific set?

I like the sound of a pin rather than a rachet type hold, seems more safe to me?

Took it to Bath Sunday/ Monday (about 80 miles either way), 4 in the car, no complaints about the ride quality. Didn't encounter any speedbumps though.
Hard to be sure about the handling change, I think there's a bit less body roll, but I'll know more in a few weeks when I've done a few more roundabouts.
