As above, i am wondering if this can be done so that i can fit a tailpipe end. I know that most of you will think that this is a stupid idea but i only want it to 'look' good without the actual pipe showing if you know what i mean (plus i am not exactly rolling in cash lol)

Help appreciated!

If you actually cut down the exhaust, the exhaust would be shorter, hope this helps.

Basically sod all apart from the exhaust gasses are inder the car instead of been expelled away from the car.
Granted the car is moving forward so this isn't a problem but lets be fair, this aint brain surgery is it.

Well i was just concerned that maybe if i had cut it, that it would maybe affect the performance of the engine thats all

You can cut it flush with the back box and it won't do anything. Cut the back box and you start losing the silencing effect, but you usually have at least 6 inches before you get there!

If you see alot of new cars, they have 'stealth' pipes. Basically they stop short of the rear bumper, then shoot downwards, leaving the bumper intact. Personally I like not having a tail pipe sticking out the back, and if I ever get my exhaust swapped, I'll stick with a stealth option.

We 130 sport owners have them :D

I`ve hacksawed plenty of tailpipes down to fit custom tips, does`nt affect noise or performance as far as I`ve noticed.

I like a smooth rear end

Cheers, since mines the formula sport model, it comes with the tailpipe out the back as standard

hi, i have a formula sport and actually cut my tail pipe down today for an exhaust tip, driven it and is no different to before, but does look tonnes better :funk:

Cheers thats exactly the look i want to go for! i have already got the tailpipe but i thought it looked embarrassing sinse you could see the exhaust!

I had a pig tail on my Polo so it was hidden:) I dunno really it had a smooth look but you still had the give away condensation so not sure if it looked better or not.

a bit of DIY lol, found myself a small angle grinder and started cutting, wasnt much room underneath the car at all tho. probably not the recommended way of going about it but did the job for me.

Ah, were there not sparks going everywhere? Was maybe going to try this method or go to a local exhaust centre to get it done

yer there were jus make sure their not flying in your direction and youll be fine. exhaust centre is probably your best option but i just wanted to go the cheaper route lol
