What's so special about a remap?

Many thanks for the advice, I'll give the resistor a miss and wait 'till the spring.

Loooking at the remap, not sure if to go for the cheap stage one option and save the clutch (£375 at Jabba) or the stage two option (£475 plus the clutch). Clutch appears to be about £800 going from what I've picked up from the forum - another £900 for plus 10-15 break? Thats the dilemma and reading Jabba's stage 2 (BHP 192 - 206).

The other thing with the blade - it'll get changed in spring. I've had my 929 for four years and kept saying for the last two - 'I'll change it this year...' It's gotta go for a 06 1000 blade. Tried one out last year and my bike feels old.

There is no question about stopping the bikes. I have a Blackbird for the Mrs - she was insistent that she was on it until she could not no longer. Mad as it may sound but she was on the back at very brisk pace until nearly seven months due! Entirely her decision - who am I to argue with the boss!? Even at this late stage all she kept on saying was the thing she missed most whilst pregnant was the bike. I know, I did worry about it last year and still do now - mortality.:headhurt:

Cheers for the comments and sorry for the delay

Looked at the link - Ta.

What you call the 'drive disc' is what I would call the 'friction plate' from a clutch. Names have appeared to have changed...

I will speak to Jabba to see what they say, but still expecting a clutch and flywheel as a response - i.e £800.

I must admit I was not expecting your comments as the threads all seem to suggest clutch and flywheel - why??? Do people like spending more money than is necessary on this site.

Answers on a postcard please...

nothing to add really had my FR Leon for a couple of weeks and knew a little about the tuning potential.

So for around £350 I can get a mild remap, of around 20 BHP? Does this affect fuel consumption in a negative way?

Thanks, promise I'll do some reserach

I assume you're talking FR PD150? You'll easily get 20bhp on a mild remap - but as always its the clutch thats the problem - hence most people have gone uprated in various guises.

Anywhere near 300 NM and it will 'probably' slip - there are people out there who have had no problems - but they are the lucky minority.

Had my stage 2 done yesterday on a PD150 and first indications is the mpg may have increased with gentle driving (2-3mpg). Still early days so don't quote me on it!

Yes and more importantly - use the Search. Research as much as you can before you spend your money.

300NM is about 221lb/ft so no problems there ;)
