Driving my leon today and the engine management light came on.....bit worrying as I only had it 3 days........anyway took the engine cover off and found a pipe with a BIG split in it so I will obviously replace it.

What I want to know is...

Whats is the pipe called and do you think this would bring on my engine management light?

Its being code read tomorrow night anyway when I get it serviced, still drives 100% fine with no idle probs or loss of performance, any ideas?

Comes off passengers side rocker cover and goes back towards bulkhead under dump valve.

Cheers for that....do you think a breather hose would bring engine light on or you think thats another problem and thats just made me notice the split breather?

could well be the cause, if it doesn't fix it I can meet you in diss or somewhere on the a143 and check your car with vagcom later this week? (assuming you are the guy from beccles?!)

That would be great! I was going to buy a vagcom today but unfortunatly don't have a laptop so my mates offered to plug his code reader in......its not going to be as good as a vagcom tho so if it doesn't bring anything up I would gladly take it up on that.

I'll try and get a replacement pipe from dealer tomorrow and see if it fixes it.

Thanks very much thats very kind of you :)

no probs; there is a seat meet next sunday in cambridge so I can look at it then if you come along, or I'm free the rest of the bank holiday, all be it hungover! :D

We call it the claw at work. its a main breather that splits on the 1.8t engine.

be careful with the other pipe at the front of the pipe not the 1 that goes to the rocket cover. this normally breaks and we do advise changing them both

What pipe would that be mate the one on the right [underneith] that the claw pipe goes into?

Or do you mean bulkhead side?

or have I got it wrong? lol

Might make it easier if I number the pies 1,2,3

Hopefully I can order them both together, don't surpose you know a rough price for both?

Quick update....

Had it code read and reset and fitted new hose with no problems at all......my mate said code related to the house so fingers crossed it was just that!

Had full service to, fitted 80mm intake to my airbox [smoothed it inside to] and fitted my new green filter....just waiting for my forge valve now and some more money for a re-map :)

They seem to split quite commonly, does no-one offer a silicone alternative?.
Not seen one before from Forge etc....
