where is main earth for lcr (clicking when try start )

wonderng if someone could have a look or tell me where the main earth cable goes for the lcr, ive put mine on top of the gearbox but when try and start car get a clicking noise,

i tried jumping it but still not good,

any help is welcome lol

You could try tappin the starter and solenoid with a hammer or metal bar while someone turns the key. The starter might just be sticking. I don't know where your earth should be on the lcr but in my experience on all the cars I've tinkered with it's always on the box.

sometimes the solenoid which pushes the starter gear against the flywheel sticks. As above try tapping with hammer or if you can get to the terminals, bridge them with screwdriver or something, with the ignition turned on.

VAG starter motors have been pre-engaged for many years. The starter gear is permanently meshed on the flywheel.

Doesn't the engine earth go on the lower starter motor mounting bolt?

One goes to the starter and another is bolted to the block under the temp sensor.

i got one going to the top of gear box but i cant find another one anywhere wiill make a cable and stick it directly from battery to one of bolts on starter and see if this does the trick

Small update changed battery tried to give earth but no good, tried to turn engine by hand but it's locked up so goin to take off starter motor and bench test it, wish me luck

Bench tested starter and all good, engine still not turning so going to drop the box now and make sure everything ok, gutted as wanted car done today but these things are here to test us

my lcr died the other day thought it was starter motor jamming so put the car in gear and rocket it to see if it dislodged, this wasn't the problem i ended up bumping the car so thought its got to be the starter motor , as i was about to take the starter motor off i found that the sensor which connects to the starter motor had snapped inside the switch so it was still connected but the wires in side were not . fixed it 2 min after 1 day of lifts every were, just have a look that the wires to the starter motor are connected inside the switch........ just thought i would post this little story

Clutch catching the bellhousing?

well got gearbox off, had to drop subframe and was a bitch of a job with just a normal jack but not sure if its the clutch catching on the bellhousing why would it do this? going to measure the bits tommoror and see if can workout why its only catching when bolts are done up tight, can you get spacers to go beetween the box and engine? just want the car back on the road now, starting to be a ball ache

Looking today and can see where gearbox bolts been catching clutch also the sach clutch is a bit thicker then standard one going to see if can get a smf as I believe will be thinner
