Goodyear Eagle F1 would be my choice, so far I only have good things to say about them. But I've never tried the other popular tyres to compare them against.
I got the Eagles fitted (4) in 195/50/15 for less than £200, pretty decent value in my opinion. They have rim protection too, IIRC.
