Which Gearbox? 085 or 020?

Hiya

My gearbox has just gone in my 1.4 1996 ibiza. Im pretty sure these are fitted with the 085 gearbox am i correct??

Does anyone know if the 020 gearbox fits these engines? (AEX engine code)

Also, which VW golfs should i look at for finding a second hand gerbox? MK2 or Mk3 Etc??

90% sure the 1.4 Ibiza is an 085 gearbox.

1.4 Mk4 Polo's also had the 085 fitted, but be careful, I've heard stories of the Polo gearbox's not fitting the Ibiza for some reason.....

1.4 Mk3 Golf's 'might' also have the 085, but again, be careful

thought the vario would have had a 020 like the 1.6 SX..... guess that's one of the 'restrictions' they used to slow the thing down !!!

knowing how small the clutch is on the 085 it's a constant worry given how much abuse I gave it with teh 1.4 (and broke it) and now with the mighty brute of the 1.6 and having to slip that a lot more to get it shifting quicking.
