But non of these are true CAI. they all seem to sit in the engine bay where its going to be hotter than the air externally.
A true CAI would surely have to sit away from the engine to be of any benefit?
Well if the car was meant to be stationary then yes you couldn't call it CAI, but the car in reality moves. That means the engine bay is constantly full of turbulent fresh air - thus cold.
What is more important is the achievable velocity of air pushed though the intake in relation to the pipe diameter, which means more grams/second and the capability of the intake to keep the air inside as cold as possible (i.e. not be heat soaked).
