But non of these are true CAI. they all seem to sit in the engine bay where its going to be hotter than the air externally.

A true CAI would surely have to sit away from the engine to be of any benefit?

Well if the car was meant to be stationary then yes you couldn't call it CAI, but the car in reality moves. That means the engine bay is constantly full of turbulent fresh air - thus cold.

What is more important is the achievable velocity of air pushed though the intake in relation to the pipe diameter, which means more grams/second and the capability of the intake to keep the air inside as cold as possible (i.e. not be heat soaked).

Has anyone tried the new version of Evoms' V-flow? I am thinking to try a new intake but I can't decide which one to buy this time. I am in between V-flow (ver. 2) and dbilas. There is also a newcomer from the States the BSH trueseal. Has anyone tried any of these?

Is this a true ko4 tfsi intake?

still not a proper cold air intake system either. Just a under bonnet intake with a makeshift shield.

Can you please elaborate the last sentence - what should be considered as a true cold air intake? I really find difficult to decide what could be the wisest choice for an intake. Something that sits in between performance, acceptable noise levels and OEM-ish looks.

Well i have dbilas and its achieved the results i was after. You either want people to know your coming(evoms) or you want to sneak up on them(dbilas)

You are just the person I wanted! I am hearing that your car kicks serious ass so your car's requirements are alongside mine in terms of the intake air. Have you logged the grams/sec in the dbilas? What is the sound like? What is the throttle feeling at low-middle rpm? Have you done tests with and without the dbilas? Please give me as much info as possible because I am trying to decide for an intake for over a month now. I tried the vflow (1st version) and it was way too loud, so I guess the same applies for the second version. So many intakes out there, everyone has their opinion and all info are mainly through word of mouth, no facts, no nothing! Any input will be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Does anyone actually rate the Evoms? All I seem to see regarding it are comments about it being too loud. Does it perform well or is it all about the Darth Vadar effect?

dbilas. the others take their air from a hot engine bay.

I have not done any logs so can,t help you there. I did have the Evoms on for a week or so but it was just too noisey for me. The sound is a little hard to describe - i would say that at low rpm its very growly and gives a nice purposeful sound. Once your moving you can,t hear it at all. My K1 will just pull pul pull from anywhere above 2000rpm and the throttle response was definately crisper with the Dbilas or Evoms fitted. I would say you would be best off with the Dbilas if you thought the Vflow didn,t float your boat.

There is no doubt that the vflow performs well. Although the first version was really built for K03 setups, it is sufficient for K04 setups too apparently. The disadvantage with vflow's venturi like cone and funnel neck is the noise - the darth vader effect you mentioned. This for me is the greatest problem, it's way too intrusive to the cabin.

Well yes sort of... As I said I had some doubts regarding the efficiency of the dbilas for the needs of a heavily modified Cupra. Many people say the filter of the dbilas is small but I wanted to hear the opinion of someone with a similar setup to my car. If you say it's enough for your car (360 bhp correct?) it should be enough for mine (370 bhp)

One more question. Did you have problems with the return pipe. I read on this forum, someone had problems with the position of the DV return pipe. It was a bit off place. Was yours ok?

No, i had to blank off the original one as its way too low down near the turbo - you can see in the pic where it was moved too

Hmm that I don't like. One of the reasons I want to change intake is that I had to do several modifications to my current one to make it as it should be. Now to pay 400 quid for an intake that I have to chop and modify from day one is bad. Furthermore I believe the tubing has a coating (possibly ceramic? - please provide some info). I you cut, grind and weld the tubing you destroy the coating.
