Hi,been reading the threads on the correct oil to use.
I have a July 07 2.0 TDi 140bhp Altea Sport Black & White Special Edition.I assumed that I would use 5W40 fully synthetic oil with spec 505.01 for PD engines but I have read that engines with a DPF need 507.00.Does my engine have a DPF?
I get the car serviced every 9000 miles and am assuming my local Seat dealer has used the right oil,he would need to at £43 for 4.3 litres!
Also, has anyone used Carlube 5W40 fully synthetic oil, states on can that it is suitable for VW group PD engines and meets spec 505.01-I can buy it from my local auto factor at £19 for 5 litres-seems too good to be true!!Who actually makes it?
Cheers.

That's good! ;)

No it shouldn't have. Only the 170 engines come with a DPF as standard.

Dealers don't pay as much as you for oil.

Couldn't tell you who makes it to be honest, but for a few quid more you can walk into a VW dealers and buy their own brand Quantum oil suitable for your car. However, VW specify VW504/507 - 5w 30 oil for all pd engined cars now, regardless of service interval, although they still sell the 5w 40 stuff which you need.

Personally, mine gets 504/507 5w 30 and 10k intervals. It gets done (fairly cheaply) at a VW dealership aswell where my mate is service manager.
