I just got T1R's on the front of mine but so far I've not been as confident cornering. Maybe its a psychological thing but the Dunlops that were on gave me amazing confidence in the car but the Toyos just feel like they are away to understeer and cause me to flinch as im cornering.. scary. The roads are ones I do every day and corners I know my limits on but now I feel that my personal limits are beyond the car.
Do tyres break in after a while?
If i don't feel better after a while i'm going to swap the wheels about and see if putting dunlops on the front give me back the trust.
Maybe I'm just paranoid.. Knowing that these tyres are recommended buys might help.
Toyos understeering, The leon is set up to do this anyway
My bridgestones understeer HOWEVER , try changing the pressures. I found that this makes a big difference.
Also find a quiet roundabout , set the car up on a constant turn and increase speed until you feel it break away and note the speed. then swap rear to front and try again, bet the Toyos at the right pressure break away at a higher speed.
as always though BE SAFE.
I suppose you could try a big tescos car park
PS bed the tyres in for a couple of hundred miles first
I'll see what the results are. Actually had a good run in the car last night and tried to drive it like nothing had been changed and it felt better. Quite interested to see how the oversteer is affected by pressures and different tyres though.
Theres a few good carparks/industrial estates I know of perfect for this sort of thing.
I'll check pressures soon and leave it for a while then see how i gets on after a bit more driving to get some miles on the tires.
