hi
this is my first post as i have had no problems with my lc since i bought it bought 8 months ago. but recently wel i should say in the last 2 months i have started hearing a whining noise from the steering everytime i turn in any direction you can hear it from inside and out. there is no problem with the way it drives but jus wanted to know if it is something i should look out for? i am 22 i absolutley love my lc i think its the best thing out there puts a smile on my face every single time i drive it i have had it remapd full s/s exhaust, bmc intake, looking to slam it with some coils. its a 2002 but the early model not the face lift and im the lucky one that got hold of the AUQ engine. makes me laugh as i have not done anything to the look of the car so when you get thos little boy racers at the lights..... wel you all know the score:lol:

Jack car up, remove pads from wheel you think the noise is coming from, put wheel back on and spin it. If it makes a grinding noise its probably the wheels bearing. does it make more of a noise when turning in either direction?
Try coasting at a decent speed on a quite road with stereo off, try weaving left and right and see if you can notice and pitch change in the noise.
If it's been like this for 2 months I would get this sussed ASAP, your nae racing naebody with a fecked wheel bearing

First thing I would do is make sure there is enough fluid in the power steering resevoir, May sound daft but its the first thing to check b4 you spend any cash.

cheers

Yeah def sounds like a power steering prob, and not a wheel bearing.
I work on VW's and I have changed a few power steering pumps for the same problem on mk4 Golfs.
Not definate though, think you will need to get it checked, because if it is the pump and it fails whilst your driving the steering will become very very heavy all of a sudden and this is very alarming and dangerous if your not ready for it happening

The 1.8T 20v is a happier engine with higher octane fuel
It works out about the same price as normal due to the slightly higher mpg and slightly bigger smile:)
