Just wondering who has a black mk5??

And what is it like to live with as a daily driver??

Are the swirl marks bad, does it get dirty within the first ten miles etc???

Thanks

I have a black mk5 and love it, I think it looks stunning in black. I am not sure why everyone says about black getting dirty quickly as I have done over 2000 miles in it so far and I think I have washed it twice.

i've got a black mk5 1.4 sport

hi, i have had mine since oct 2008, i think the metallic black is an awesome paint choice. looks really nice when its just been washed and the suns out, also at night in town with the streetlights etc. not too hard to maintain, dont have to wash any more than my other car. not had problem with swirl marks either, never go through a car wash!! lol. ive had a couple of surface scratches that show up from time to time, but they completely polish out easily with a tiny dab of 'meguirs scratch x'.

I have got black Cupra,i will probably post photos of it in the relevant thread next week.

My personal opinion:when i picked it up it was parked next to a red Boca and although the plastic ''blades'' on the front bumper were noticeably rougher,i thought that it looked better than the Boca!

It is a discreet colour and it doesn't catch the eye immediately like, say,an Orange Cupra, but it looks way meaner and classier overall. And close-up to it it really shows that it is a metallic colour, not a solid one.As for maintenance and appearance it's too early to tell...

GF has a black one and once washed and polished (by me) you can never beat a black car whatever it is when its gleaming but its not been as bad as i expected from my past experience of owning black cars! :D

Mine looks great when clean but gets mucky after no time, having it washed every week but it still looks mucky. I do nearly 400 miles a week though and on building sites so that probably dosn't help! Luckily getting a works van soon, so won't need to use the car at work, so it might stay clean for a bit.
