I thought EVO magazine quite liked their long termer?
Because it's made by a German-owned company, not an actual German one like VW, BMW, Mercedes etc etc.
Plus the interior is sh1te and to a lot of people this is very important! Some people think Seat = Spanish = ****, without even bothering to find out properly for themselves.
It does however mean it's a "best kept secret" for us real enthusiasts and priced accordingly.
When I first got into my Cupra I was'nt that keen on the centre dash panel, but after sitting in my brother-in-laws latest shape A6 Avant it was no different- very similar in colour & feel around the I-Drive thingi-ma-jig (Don't know what it's called in an Audi).
If it's OK for a premium car, then why not in a small car?
The only thing I could see that made it look cheap, are the hard plastic door panels- which don't exactly jump out at you.
The front seats are very nice- I love the trim, the buttons don't feel like they'll fall off overnight either.
I can't be bothered to read some of the reviews anymore as it's getting a little bit rediculous across the board.
Some of these journalists seem to be loosing touch with reality.
Slightly OT but, you only have to pick up a What Bike/MCN et all...mag & read a review where a 150bhp bike is slated for being too slow! SLOW?! Compared to what??? An F22?
Not everyone lives their life by the 1/4 mile- I am not Vin Diesel.
Some of these journalists need to get a grip on reality & owners need to stop caring what other people think & enjoy one of motorings best kept secrets!
Rant over!
a simple suspension upgrade would sort out many criticisms any one has with regards to how it handles .thats just my 2 pence worth.

Nothing wrong with the suspension......try a MK4 Ibiza Cupra if you want to find suspension that needs upgrading.
A review is just that, a review by an individual who has there own agenda. They dont have to like the vehicle or everything about it just write their thoughts.
Its then up to you to do your own research and make your own mind up, after all your spending the dollars on the vehicle!
I drove all of the other contenders in the crowd except the golf (dealer wouldnt let me) and decided the K1 was the one for me even though all mags were saying the new Civic Type R was the one to have.

Really, at the end of the day, people make their own minds up. Yes, the centre console looks ****, the styling may not be the best, there is no main differentiator to the Cupra over other models style wise, main dealer/manufacturer back up not as good as others, the model line up and marketing may not be brilliant, and the standard kit and options list poor, but it is a great car for the money, especially when a remap is thrown at it.
