from what i have read and seen, it might work well - good cheap upgrade from standard smic, looks pants though imo

and if you wanted to get a fmic that requires no cutting etc... then stop looking at this one as you need to modify a few things for it to fit -

as most people know its never my intention to offend people using the laguna interooler, i think its cool that not everyone has to spend xxx amount and be the same and were willing to find alternate setups...just dont like people being fed bullshit

which *a number* of laguna cooler users try out...but theyre not bad people really :p

nope infact...finally someone with half a brain...why the laguna intercooler and not from a 406hdi....cos one day someone said..."im gonna fit a laguna intercooler..." and it 'worked' so its become popular...but nowhere along the line was there any science at all behind it. it was more "well it didnt reduce the power so it must be good"

which is good enough for some people...not me ;)

can you tell me the science behind why it is such a BAD idea to fit one then.

because i have heard and seen lots of laguna intercoolers working well so what info have you or anyone else got to prove that they should not be used

i never said it was a bad idea to fit one
and i never said they should not be used

i have no doubts at all its better than standard which is important

but theres no factual proof around to back up some of the stuff some people come up with! "the laguna set up is better than X kit"
"fitting the laguna is 700quid cheaper"

both bull ****

The main reason I can think of for not fitting one would be trusting your own ability in fabricating the parts needed - and ensuring the security of the cooler by squashing it between the crash bar & the aircon rad.

all i know/have been told is that it might increase turbo lag, but you get a longer boost time and slightly more power due to lower temops.

I particulary like tha fact some peoples are held on with cable ties and that fact they had to spray one side of it to make it look better...

But then i have a Forge fmic, so who am i to moan.

rotflmao cable ties were there to straighten it up, i just left them there. cant believe youve taken that to heart! i cut mine at the pod to prove they werent doing anything.

And yeah to the fella who said it wasnt any cheaper. Erm, well i got given my cooler, and pipes cost roughly 100 quid. So you do the maths :)

The peeps who have done the conversion are happy, in addition to this, i also know some people are the first to slate the modification. Personally im not impressed by the joins on the forge IC pipework either, but each to their own.

Guys c'mon, isn't anyone else fed up of this petty pros and cons and Laguna Vs Forge conversations?

There is surely enough comments made about these two main FMIC on this site for people to get a good understanding of peoples opinions if they use the searchy... surely we can all stop going on about whether the laguna one looks good and whether the forge one is over priced... its getting old, can we change the station? More music less diggin'.....please?

Its as bad as whooshy DV 's FFS...

If someone asks about Laguna IC then the Laguna peeps can answer, if someone asks about Forge, then the Forge peeps can answer, and if some starts a thread that is anythin like Forge Vs Laguna, then we can all reply telling them to search and hopefully the mods will promptly delete the thread??

I'm not having a go at you Tony156, valid point to ask, but surely you dont want your thread full of Forge this Laguna that?? A simple, "its a cheap alternative to the Forge FMIC if you dont mind a bit of DIY. It does just as good a job..."

Simple...

mike im with you about the arguin it is kinda petty but the chap wanted to know why bother with the laguna...as opposed to what else

some truths have to be told...i hate people being misled cos i know how it feels

as for costs...yeah laguna is cheap, thats undeniable...but going around saying you can save £500/600 is not true. im not saying that what you can save isnt much, you will save a hell of alot! but lets not exaggerate it shall we

Good point, and well made. Discussions are fine but when you read digs and sarcasm day in day out about the same subject it gets annoying, hence my reference to the Whooshy DV....

Yesterday opened my eyes alot about time, and how precious it is, there is more to life than arguing all the time.. if I'm gonna waste it I'd rather do it NOT arguing about soddin FMIC's lol

My own feelings on the Lagune IC is that it works and is a hell of a lot better than standard, for a relatively cheap cost compared to the Forge 'kit'.

Wether it's as good as the Forge, probably not. I say this because my friend had the Laguna one on his, myself the Forge and mine pulled slightly harder top end in comparison. My friend ended up replacing his with the Forge kit and was happy(ier). Looks came into as well but that's down to personal preference.

Anyone with a K03S with Laguna intercooler know what their torque figure is?
My friends car with the Laguna IC on it made about 250lb ft. Once replaced with the Forge kit, it made 280lb ft (ditto for mine).

I don't mean to take anything away from the Laguna set-up, as for the cost of the whole thing it certainly takes some beating in the VFM stakes.

Just my 2p's worth (flash - no offence bud).

philw why have you got your engine bay covered in blue silicone is it to make it look better?

i cant see any problem with wanting to make your car look better no matter what it is and if i remember right you made a comment that mine looked good.

if i had never said that it was painted you would of never known
