Actually they kinda are Brembos, seeing as AP Racing is owned and operated by Brembo.

Mine is one of the first UK Cupras, registered in July 04, and the 4 pots were always standard for the UK market.

All the correct parts are there ready for fitting, it looks expensive but its a lot less hassle

I'm pretty sure some mk4 Cupras had Brembos instead of AP Racing. Maybe in another country or something. The Seat workshop manual shows the Brembo brake system for the Cupra and not AP Racing.

Brembo and AP Racing are like VW and SEAT, in a way they are Brembos.

Phil MC - do your alloys stick out further in the centre or are they flat? If they look flat, they'll be Leon FR+ alloys and you'll need spacers too. If they stick out further, you have the Cupra wheels which allow big brakes behind them.

yes , they stick way out in the centre and are indeed Cupra wheels, as is the rest of the car. Just the 312mm discs with Audi TT callipers by the looks of it.

why don't you just paint your TT calipers red and pocket the money, from what I've read the AP's are only a little bit better than the TT's anyway and they use the same discs

not a little bit better, a hell of alot better and they look the tits too

You won't stop any faster with the AP set-up than the TT ones, you can't slow down faster than your tyres will grip and it's quite possible to lock the wheels with the TT 312mm set-up with good tyres on a dry road.

Have a look for an article entitled "pulp friction" I believe it was reproduced on line.

I've been kind of thinking along those lines, and I'm edging towards keeping a hold of the TT braking set-up(Re-protect them in red) and put the calliper upgrade money towards something else.

The big question would then be - what should I get done to the standard set-up and in what order and cost?

I had S3 calipers (same as TT) on my old TDI 130 and they stop no quicker than my APs do, the only advantage I can find is the braking force needed to stop is reduced and the pads last a lot longer. That said, Cupra pads are expensive so it all works out.

I want Goodridge brake lines on my Cupra, they don't make them though

The expense and hassle(Reportedly) in maintaining the AP Callipers are now outweighing the asthetics and arguably slight performance increase I'd get if I were to change from the S3/TT callipers.

And as I mentioned before, I can now turn my attention (And cash) to some of the following mods:

1) Green Filter element.
2) Cat section replacement.
3) Cupra R Splitter.
4) Front Struts.
5) Custom remap.
6) Cruise retro-fit.

Is there anything else I should really be looking at prior to getting the remap done?

I've had a trawl through some TDi tuning threads and stuff, but can't find a definitive list of Ibiza TDi Cupra Mods to do and in what order is best.

I'm not looking to push the boundaries in Bhp or Torque (Don't really want to have to upgrade the clutch either unless absolutely necessary), but would like to tweek a few things to get the biggest bang for your buck .

On your profile it says its a '06 Curpa TDI... Sure its not an import, either that, or before it was sold the previous owners took off the brakes and swapped them (also a possibility)?? Only Cupra's outside the UK had the TT setup, Seat UK wanted 4 pots for the UK.

Gutted... for road use the TT setup is more than adequate, but admit doesnt look as good as a big brake setup.
