Yep I had a bit of spare from when carbon fibre was the in thing to stick everywhere and wondered how it would look before spending cash on it. Even though its cheapy film and was creased before i started it looked great once it was done. The centre pillars come off allowing you to do a really neat job. I wanted to use real CF composite but might stick with some new film. It would be worthwhile applying some heavy duty tape to the inside of the pillar to hold the film in place.

I used an iron to get it to smooth off properly and when it started to crease the neighbours who already think im mad must have thought i was beyond mental being outside ironing my car.

I tinted my ones with remote control car tinting spray, Tamiya Polycarbonate Smoke to be precise, Outside it looks spot on but a bit blotchy when you look out of them.. I can live with it but if there was a better way i'd do it.

Just out of wounding how much did you pay for the front being tinted

Sure will mate.. If you dont here from me sometime on monday bump this post or send me a pm.. There may be others who post the guide before I get a chance to but I dont have my usb thing with me.

hi peoples, i am looking at having my windows tinted. both front and rear, but the companies i have contacted have said they cant do it because of the plexi glass rear windows. I have seen other cars done and wondered if anybody could recommend a company to me in the scottish area as to who could do this.

chrisjd - Not sure what solutions people have come up with to do this, I still have mine done with polycarb spray which looks perfect from the outside. Perhaps someone with an airbrush could do a better job which also looks good from the inside?

I have heard replacing the poly glass is a pig of a job and not really something anyone should diy.

thanks for the info, will bear that in mind. Have also been informed that you can buy the cupra inserts at a whopping 126 quid each that are already tinted and that its a pain in the backside to fit as its moulded in. 3 hours labour and then the fact you have to pay for rest for tints. Not cheap!

I also played about with using tint film on the glass which didn't leave to bad results.. i just cut round the bubble.. seemed to work ok even if it never really stuck that well..

That's a fair price just to get some tints

hi there, got leon fr and wanting the fronts tinted to match back what should i ask for best match? i.e light smoke? medium smoke???? help needed

k4ith, no that wouldn't have been me.. not been down there for a while.

Since this is a post about tints though I'll shamelessly pimp my efforts at DIY tints..

35% VLT on the fronts 20% VLT on the rear

you know your sunstrip, is that a tint or a vinyl...

im in a process of getting a black roof done and was thinking which way would be best to get a black sunstrip...

either vinyl on the outside, or the max black tint on the inside....
