Another thing that came out of my darn service at the weekend is that my wind screen wipes need replacing.

What can people recommend? Just a trip to arsefords for some bosh ones or whatever else people can recommend. I need fronts deffo and poss rear one too.. This car is now getting expensive :(

I wouldn't call a set of wiper blades a huge expense!
You should replace them at least once a year, and as we've had a rather cold winter, the ice on the windscreen soon knackers them and once we're back to good old rainy season for the rest of the year you will soon notice the improvement.
Have a search for 'floppy' 'wipers' and see the aero wipers some peeps have fitted - though I don't know what the insurance issues would be if you had them fitted and drove up the arse of someone as they could be technically viewed as a modification.
Failing that I think I have a brand new, never used set of Bosch ones in the garage that I never fitted to my old Leon should you want to make an offer!

Unfortunately £330 for the 40k service
4 new tyres required soon
new discs and pads required all round soon
and then these wipers :(

I'll see where else I can get bosch wipers from. I'm not going to modify them as I want to keep the costs down

We sell bosch wipers at work and I would say DON'T get them, they are way overpriced for the quality.

Get Valeo Silencio, much better quality frames and much lower in price.

As I say we sell Bosch and I would never recomend them to a friend.

Where is the best place to get these from?

mikey mate, its a shame it all seems to be coming at once for you, but lets face it, whatever car you have all the bits you need are consumables - its not like you are doing it cos you want to (like me lol)

Once they are done you wont be needing them again for a while :)

I used the bosch blades - cr*p they were..... Now got the Golf aero ones and they seem much better, although in real **** weather the mud just gets too much for even them!

Just do a google and find someone local, they tend to be sold by motor factors type people.

They are OEM for ford, and so sold at Rapidfit. They are a French company so are also OEM for Renault and the like, look on web sites specializing in French cars.
There are also plenty of Ebayers selling them.

The Valeo Silencio dont have a spoiler on the drivers side like the Bosch do, wont they lift off at high speed?

What about the TP TV480 are they any good?

There is a spioler version of those blades, I did read that wiper blade write up when it came out, it looks like they ordered the wrong part from Valeo.

Sorry I'm not familair with those TP TV480 items but they do get a good score.

The link above is to Valeo's online catalogue, it's a bit slow to navigate through but it does show that there are quite a few variations available. Valeo also do a retrograde conversion to the newer style flat blades.

I got Champion wipers from Motorworld last year. They've performed alright so far...

I got mine from the local dealer - Valeo ones with wear indicator (little dot that turns yellow over time). The dot has gone pretty yellow over winter, when the most weat happens, so I guess that works! Had no problems with them at all, no smearing/juddering/lifting etc and they were £3 cheaper than Bosch at Halfrauds. Can't argue with that.

I was thinking exactly the same when I had a look at that site. I can only assume it's the toldeldo ones as they don't list the Leon...

Tempted to get a new back one too.

Need to get some as visibility on my car is poor at the moment, but then that's also cause it's so dirty. Can't see out of the rear passenger windows due to the muck :(

wiper sizes

SEAT TOLEDO MK 1 10/91-3/99 SP20S SP20
SEAT TOLEDO MK 2 3/99- SP21S SP21

The above is chopped out of my electronic Bosch catalogue.

Basicly the 1991 to 1999 version has 20 inch wiper both sides and the 1999 on (so up to 2005) version has a 21 inch spoiler on the drivers side and a 21 standard on the passenger side.

Cheers

Im now really confused though as another sites says they are 21 and 19

Here's a plan, take a tape measure outside and measure them ;)

That catalogue has proved reliable in the past, but could well be wrong, it's been chopped about quite a bit in the time I've had it.

champion from motorworld Etc.were recommended in a car mag recently and work fine on mine!
If you want to save some 'hard earned' just buy the Champion refill rubbers (cut to lenth) and insert them in the blades you have!
The blades themselves don't need replacing every year but they might lose their spring after a few years so splash out then.

I wouldn't go for Bosch. I had a pair on my Golf a few years ago and they were noisy and left streaks (from new).

Halfords own brand have seen me right for ages.

I've had Champions in the past too, they were pretty good.
