wing mirror noise

Just to let you all know. I went into the dealers last week to mention again about the wind noise from my drivers wing mirror (they've already replaced the mirror and the window seal) and I was told it is now a known problem and they have a piece of rubber seal to put in the wing mirror to sort it out. Got the car booked in next week to get it fitted.

Anyone else had this done- does it work?

how much is that gonna cost, or is it warranty work? Mirrors are pretty damn loud on my car!

Try sealing the cover where it attaches to the mirror housing, where it points towards the front (the cover comes off and there was a bit of a gap on mine). It cured it!

Lot easier than that aimez. The mirror cover comes off (on the FR it's the silver bit). Well just seal all the way around where it attaches to the mirror housing (the black bit).

As it's designed to come off anyway there was a small gap on mine which led to the whistling noise. Cured mine! Just used a bit of black dumdum putty, but I'll replace it with silicone sealant sometime now I've realised it's done the trick.

it's going to be covered under the warranty. I didn't realise how bad mine was until my gfriend drove my car and I was in the passenger seat and I couldn't hear any wind noise.

iv taken the silver cover off at a meet so i know what you mean thanks! I might get gloss black cupra mirror covers so i don't really want to seal mine in which is annoying. I keep changing my mind as to wether to get them though!
Thanks anyway!

There's no need to take the cover off. Seal where it meets the rest of the mirror. It's probably not a perfect fit, so that's why there was a whistling noise on mine. Even small very small gaps are enough.

 I can post a picture of a mirror. There's nothing to show.

The mirror cover comes off. Seal round it where is attaches to the rest of the mirror. Not sure I can explain it any other way. You don't need to take the cover off.

Did nearly 300 miles yesterday and it's totally silent now. No wind noise at all. :D

Only found out what the problem was by putting masking tape on various bits, and taking them off one at a time.
