long one this, but bare with me!

bought my LCR couple of months back, first time it rained the wipers squealed like a hog, so I stopped at halfords bought their off the shelf own brand twin pack, fitted them, no squeal but missed bits of the windscreen. :(

A couple of weeks go by and they start juddering like mad, so I order some valeo aero jobbies from www.wiperblades.co.uk 20 odd quid delivered next day, spot on. :D

Fitted them, look the buisness, no rain for a few days...

Driving to work, it suddenly p!sses down, after a couple of sweeps, the wipers are juddering and missing bits all over the shop, in short dangerous; get home take them off put the halfords efforts back on, there not brilliant but better than the aeros. I stick the aeros in the shed and forget about them.. :(

Fast forward to yesterday, went to Halfords bought some rainex and rainex window cleaner, used the cleaner first and stripped all the grime and sh!te off my windscreen, then applied rainex polish and followed the instructions to the letter, then cleaned the aero blades and re-fitted them.

Drove to work in the afternoon, it bucketed it down, turn on wipers, this time its uber judder, the bl00dy things are bouncing all over the windscreen!, turn them off and boot it a bit, once my speeds above 40 the rainex does its stuff and i can switch the wipers off cos the waters beading off my windscreen.

I finish my shift and get on the motorway to come home, its midnight theres loads of spray, got no choice but to use the wipers, put them on intermitent ... sweep-judder-pause-sweep-judder-pause-sweep.. then it judders so badly that it strips the splines in the wiper wheelbox on the passenger side ,and the arm is stuck half way up the windscreen!

So, this morning, off came the aeros, out came the windscreen cleaner, stripped all the rainex off the windscreen , took off passenger arm, cleaned out splines on wheel box, and refitted my trusty halfords own brands, tried them with the windscreen washer and there not 100%, still missing patches and a bit squealy, but not half a s bad as the valeo aero's. :headhurt:

Any ideas guys on what the feck is happening?, the car looks so sweet with the aeros fitted, but im knackered the minute it rains!! Anyone had the same problems, and if so how did you sort it?

cheers fellas!

i brought the valeo aeros too...they were good for the 1st week or so, then glorious sunshine, then rain and juddery judder-son...BUT...i cleaned my car (again) the weekend, (couple weeks ago) and there spot on, no juddering, and smooth wipe...they dont quite touch the windsreen at the far side on passengers but thats right at the bottom so not too fussed

ps i use autoglym glass polish on my windows if that helps

Brick.... Windscreen..... 'Hello, insurance company, I think I need to make a windscreen claim...'

;)

Mine are still standard. Although I tolerate them, I know they're pretty dangerous.

As for the Fabias - it's the obvious solution to an obvious problem - course they'll get mentioned. To be fair, i'm surprised it wasn't suggested in the first reply. :)

I've never heard of anybody fitting the Fabia wiper to their windscreen wipers? That's probably why it's not been mentioned!

The Fabia rear wiper is an excellent mod though ;)

Thought it was the wiper arm that people replaced on the front to correct the "slipped" effect from the standard blades?

If not - my fault for not paying attention :)

I don't believe all three sets of blades inc. 2 new are knackered. Sounds more like an arm issue to me, as you've dealt with the screen.

same here

had bosch aeros (the renault conv ones) on 2 years now and cant remember ever cleaning em

still work spot on even now

cheers fellas, so far my halfords monger blades are doing quite well, as a last ditch effort to enable me to fit the aero's , I've packed the missus off to tesco's to get me a bottle of white vinegar, gonna try and strip back the windscreen in an organic stylee :p

I cant think what could be wrong with both arms causing judder, if it was just one of them then fair enough but for both to "fail" is a bit of a coincidence, all I can think is that my windscreen is contaminated with some mysterious completely transparent substance (job for CSI!) that is causing the blades to sort of cut into the surface of screen and cause the judder.

Hopefully the hippy vinegar will sort it out, if not I may well have a pair of nearly new aeros for sale.....

oh yeah, seeing as we're talking wipers, ... fabia... there , I said it

i use rainx and swear by the stuff - fantastic - stick with it and you shall not be disappointed.
i use the dodgy original wipers and should change them really but as rainx does 90% for my, why bother.

As a side, Why do people shout Fabia every time a wiper question comes up? i use the original and it cleans all the screen lovely. mine 2p worth, probably worth less really.
