While attempting (i couldn't get the dam strut top mount off, plus GSF gave me the wrong shocks [:@] ) to replace the front shocks on 1.8 20v i noticed that the wishbone bushes on the drivers side wishbone appear to be torn or separating.

Would you say that i have anything to worry about or does this require immediate attention.
 
Hi there.....
you will notice as they deteriorate further that the handling from the front end becomes floaty and it feels unstable.
on a motorway this is un nerving as the car moves and your continuously correcting the steering.........check your axle bushes too.....all of mine went.....
decided to change for powerflex......

It is a common occurance for the bushes to go on the VW MK IV chassis.
do a search.....i posted pics of mine when my other half changed them at easter...:)
