Think I need some of these.

Was looking at some poly bushes but there's usually a few out there for different cars that are cheaper and look the same fit, net.

Are they?

Ie if I buy a bush set for a 2000 on Fabia, for front and rear wishbone bushes, will they fit?

I also got on to flo flex, who sell them for the Fabia as above, but not the ibiza, is this because they're different or because they're different and they actually don't make the ibiza ones?

I like poly bushes because they're easy to fit and nice and stiff too, but don't really want to pay powerflex prices.

They're likely an MOT fail next month is why I ask, and if I'm doing the rear bushes might as well do the front ones and maybe even ball joints.

Cheers

I just liked poly for fitment but these will do especially if they're a worthwhile upgrade.
What about front wishbone bushes while it's apart, cheaper than whole wishbones obviously but same upgrade apply?

Just had the rear bushes replaced on my Mk4. Had bought the Cupra ones as everyone suggested however the Seat garage would NOT fit them as they were a non standard part.

In the end to save the hassle I just got the standard ones fitted. The "new" standard ones are much improved on what came off the line though. More solid that what was fitted but not as solid as the Cupra.

As badger said the Cupra ones are pretty cheap, got my set for £21 and the standard ones cost me a little less at £18 or so.

Just something to be aware of if you are going down the official fitting route.

The fronts are embedded into the wishbone so will be a bit more fiddley to fit. Mine were grand though and didnt warrant the effort / cost.

Interested in how much you guys are paying for console bush replacement? I just got quoted £310 which I responded to with a stifled laugh, but any ideas would be great.

I was quoted all sorts for my replacements, from £25 a side to £70 a side. The garages that looked a bit more "up market" was on the upper end of that. In the end I got Seat to do mine and it was £120 plus parts. What got me was the 2 year guarantee though and they came and collected the car and dropped it off.

One mechanic told me he was cheap because you could replace the bush without removing the arm whereas others told me it was impossible, lots of mixed info.

Mine are sorted now and would say it was worth it, I didn't fancy the job myself, lots of alignment and special tools needed.

There does seem to be a lot of conflicting info here. Last place I called told me they wouldn't fit cupra bushes because they would destroy my suspension. In other words they don't want a difficult job..

I'd do them myself but like you say, by the time I've had the car realigned I may as well be giving the money to a garage to take on the whole job.

But not at £155 a side..

Well the dealer just didn't want me having any come back. They only fit seat parts for the model designed regardless if they fit or not. Covering their backs which I get. It's was more the alignment of the Bush itself put me off... It is shaped like a 50p so not just circular. Press it in off and you are in some bother.

In terms of realignment, is it 4-wheel-alignment that people go for? I had my tracking done (for lots of reasons besides bushes), it drives grand, but the wheel doesn't seem to be perfectly straight when going in a straight line. It's not far off but obviously not quite right!

I got mine tracked but more for piece of mind. Didn't have any strange tyre wear and didn't notice anything different from driving. Wheel not aligning is tracking though

This is pretty interesting I guess.
I'd be more inclined to get some spacers made up to press them in and do the job myself though.

Clutch / cmc failure last night has delayed this though

I've had this before. Whoever did your tracking didn't straighten and clamp the steering wheel before they started. Thus, they aligned your wheels for going straight, but with the steering wheel at an angle. I'd take it back.

Badger, cheers, useful guide,
Did some on the parents polo years ago, was a ball ache just because I didn't have anything to press the new ones in.

Upon cross referencing powerflex parts, and parts from euro car parts, the Fabia poly bushes, powerflex and I suspect other manufacturers are actually all the same part numbers, despite being told by manufacturers that they don't make them for the ibiza but do for the Fabia.

On this basis, for £30 I can get front and rear wishbone bushes for around £30 delivered. They're poly, used them before on my focus st170 and they seemed very good, though they did replace knacked oems so who knows.

Worth a go?

Thanks for the replies concerning the tracking. It doesn't really affect the driving or tyre wear (as far as I can see), but it is quite annoying tbh so I'll take it back and ask for them to do it properly.

Good news, so perhaps a window regulator from a fabia will be easier to come by? Though I guess they're all 5 door :(

They will be harder to come by, however, the physical fitting should be similar. The only issue with electrical items is that they had many revisions so each part number may be slightly different, so hard to tell from part numbers alone.

I'll just buy an ibiza one lol

When it runs again...

Hot start issue to sort yet, at least the starters easy ish to get to lol

No need for a new starter, you'll find it's the battery causing the hot start issue.

Does it keep turning and turning but doesn't catch when temps over 70'c? Then I would say it's the battery. You can map the issue out though...
