Hey folks.

A reply ASAP would be great so I can get what I wanna do this afternoon done! But I replaced the fuel filter this afternoon, started it and left it running for a good 5-10 minutes no problem gave it a good rev and it was fine so turned it off. Now I wanna go out in it and it won't start! It's turning over but just not going! :( Anything anybody could think of to get it going?

Cheers

Oz

just tried filling it to the top with diesel and still no start so got a flat battery now lol. Going to use a set of jump leads and keep trying to turn it over, supposedly that's what should sort it according to my mate who's a bus mechanic

iirc you need to do a few ignition cycles to prime the filter before trying to start it

just as a not for next time :)

Is there a lift pump anywhere on these engines for priming it?

On a Clio DCi there is a small pump near the filter so put the inlet hoses on the filter, pump until diesel comes out the out let hose and then fit these and pump a little more. Starts and runs no problem as youve flushed all the air out the filter

The Ibiza has a pressurised fuel system so no need for a lift pump, the squirting noise when you turn the ignition on is the pump pressurising the system. As said above if you turn the ignition on and off a few times it will self prime the filter and injectors.
