Hi Everyone!

Im in the market for Leon SE 1.6 TDI but the problem is none in my area have the tech pack (Dab, LED lights, Sat nav).

I have to extend the search on autotrader to 80 miles before it finds one.

I guess my question is...Is it worth waiting for one to come up within reasonable distance? They seem to sell for about 1k more but down the line this will also help with resale (in about 50 years)

I have a new fr ordered and it's taking 3 weeks longer to arrive as I added it to mine. Seen one this morning without and def worth the wait. Plus will be more desirable when it comes to resale time

I am looking second hand and there are so many without it when it was a free upgrade!

Someone on this site said that a dealer had told him that cars without the Tech pack will be harder to sell, as most punters will want it.

Thats exactly what i was thinking. I think im going to hold out

I've also heard people say that as the tech pack has been free for so long in the UK, if it doesn't have it then it's more likely to be ex-fleet (if that might put you off).

Makes sense to me - why would you not take a free optional extra?

Edit: And yes, I would recommend the tech pack. All 3 of the additions it comes with are beneficial.

Is 80miles really that far to travel if it is the car you want? I bought a second hand one in September and travelled 600miles round trip to get it as it was the spec I wanted and the best deal.

Yeah, as above. If it is second hand without a tech pack in England, it is almost definitely going to be ex-fleet or ex-hire car. So on that basis, I would steer clear of those cars anyway as they will have most likely been driven like crazy as well.

Hold on for a tech pack.

I'd travel for the right car... we are off to look at a car this weekend that is over 100 miles away cos is the only one of 2 in the country that meets our price range and exact spec were after (well the missis is after... she's fussy lol).

as for the tech pack, we looked at a leon last night that looked ok for wifey... saw it had no tech pack and discounted it right there and then lol.

Would you end up doing two trips if you decided to buy? One to look and negotiate and another to pick it up?

essentially yes. In the past garages want to get the car prepped and stuff first... if they let me take it that day then great, would make our purchase easier.

Looks like a nice car too...hmmm...2 Hours away from me in Cheltenham! Closest i have found is Nottingham and they have 10 of em!!

several in Letchworth, 1 mile £17k, 3700 miles £15k etc. I found them excellent and keen to deal, but these seem a bit more than some of the others...I'd stick out for the Tech pack too....
crewe seat one looks tasty for £12k!! I'd like a heated windscreen.....

80 miles is the nearest? Where do you live? Iceland? :p In the UK, most of the Leon's have the Tech Pack, so it's a surprise to hear that you can't find any locally.

When I purchased mine I was more interested in getting the options I wanted, at the right price. So much so, I travelled over 100 miles to Crewe when I found a car that met my spec.

I can't recommend Crewe enough either, they were great for me, gave me a deal that I was more than satisfied with and the service was top drawer.

The above being said, I think they may have got the spec wrong, last time I checked, a Heated Windscreen wasn't available on any Leon's, even as an option.

Have a look on autotrader and do a search in the region of Cheltenham for a leon SE 1.6 TDI with tech pack!

I got my last car over 120 miles from my home, and the Cupra about 40 miles I would now always travel to find the car I wanted. can save you £1000s as well.

Ahh I was only jesting with you, I don't doubt you at all, I just found it very surprising. I think the problem you have is that I don't think the 1.6 TDi sells in huge numbers, certainly not when compared to the 2.0 TDi options that are available - I'm guessing there would be more with those engines in your local area?

Well that reduces the closest to 57 miles! Getting better.

I wonder if I should go for the 2.0? The Mrs does 60 miles of duel carriageway every other day
