Would 20mm spacers be too much stress on my wheel nuts?

Standard wheels not got my spares to get the size sorry, handling is spot on and i don't drive slowly when on my own

They haven't made any negative difference imho.
Feels fine.

Im trying to work out how much wider my wheels will be. as iv 225's standard et35 offset.

Yeah standard tyre for the standard wheels on mine are 205/55/16 offset is ET43 for mine iirc

so with mine there is 20mm difference on the tyre thickness. is that likely to mean my wheels are already 20mm wider than yours without spacers. so currently my wheels stick out as far as your wheels do now with spacers?

No be 20mm of the whole width so 10mm each side from the centre of the wheel.
Mine are still in the arches.

No lol 225 is over the width of the whole wheel.
If you put a 20mm spacer on it will bring the wheel 20mm towards the arch, not 10mm.
