Hi guys,

I'm a newbie on here looking to purchase a Leon cupra r. I've always been holding out for a 225 which I believe are from 04 onwards. I've seen a couple of really nice 210 leons but have been put off by the age really and too be honest the bhp (awaits the abuse as it's only 15 bhp).

So the question is:

1) has anybody been in the same boat
2) is there really much difference between the 2
3) if it was your money, would you hold out for the 225 or go for the 210.

It seems that the 225 are still holding there money with high milege, where you can get a low milege (50 - 60k) 210 leon for abit less.

Sorry if this is a duplicate post of what you read daily.

Thanks.

very small differences as above in the thread Mike R has provided - so no one will need to list them here(I hope)

but if it was me I'd hold out for the right 225. I have had 2 now and the little differences do make a difference if they are important to you. I for one really like the 225 wheel compared to the 210, but others will not mind either.

it's all down to your opinion buddy. but the 210's are very similar so your best bet is buying the best 210 or 225 your money will get. both will remap to around the same bhp. no real difference there.

I bought a low mileage 2003 210 (35k) with 1 lady owner last year over a higher mileage (55k) 225. I'd easily go for a better cared for/cleaner car that's maybe 1-2years older than a newer car that's not been so well looked after.

The power dif is negligible anyway - according to the FAQ linked to above the 225 is 225PS (ie 220BHP) and the 210BHP is actually (212PS) so the dif is really only 10bhp - though how much you'll take from that I don't know!

All I do know is mine totally standard pulled 221bhp on the rollers.

Thanks for that information guys, well worth a read.
Think it may be worth holding out for the 225 model in the hope that the later model will have got rid of the minor bugs / problems in the older model.

the 210 and 225 map the the same output too, so excluding the cosmetic mods they're very similar

GlanzaV - Very good point to be honest and well worth taking into consideration.

Think I'm making this difficult for myself.

Don't worry, it's a big purchase, it's normal to worry 'am I buying the right one?!' etc. All went through my head.

I just liked the 225 touches and decided I would hold out for one as I had 225 money at the time. I would have been happy with a nice 210 though for less and had more money to tune from the off that I would have saved.

Works both ways. Just buy a well looked after reasonably low mile example. Although high miles doesn't always mean a bad thing if it's been regularly serviced by VAG experts and has a loving owner.

I bought my 225 on 50k earlier in the year in February and it's now on 57k and running better than when i bought it :)

When it comes to serious looking, post the links up on here and get everyone's opinion/advice on whether they would buy them. You can learn alot on this forum.

alot of 210's have recaros and sat nav so no, if i seen one with those id get it

I went through a similar situation myself. I waited an extra couple of weeks to find a good lcr225.

There is only subtle difference between them and they're both cracking cars if you bought a 210 or a 225.

Guess the main question is, can you wait? :)

Agree they map the same. I've got a deposit down on a 210 one in about 2-3 weeks time I pick it up and with the Recaros It's a minter!

I personally would look for a 210 imo but If a 225 comes up and a good price have a look at it.

I bought my 210 at a very good price, 78k one lady owner totally standard. I paid £4300. Now for the good bit, i got the 225 steering wheel and teardrop mirrors for £195. So my 210 is now the same as the 225 and it cost under £4500 :) result. Now to add its also running at 270bhp. So all im saying, dont rule out the 210, they can be very good value for money, also i bought mine 2years ago now.

some thing else to look at is the insurace, i got quotes on both a 210 and 225 saved about 60 on the 210, then mine popped up at a silly price any way, 225 have better steering wheels and nice mirrors, in terms of whats better... depends if you want nice mirrors really, some thing else i have noticed... iv seen more 225 at scrap yards than 210 yet i think there was less of them, is this due to the mirrors? not seeing that car on the out side, not seing that bike on the inside, just some thing iv noticed thats all
