Turned XDS to High (setting 2) in vagcom today and what a massive difference!!! Turns out this car CAN corner. Even in the wet

That's the same setting as the cupra r isn't it? It's on 2 from factory? Heard good things I want mine changing too.
I guess the adjustment is on fl only?

Just the XDS and large MFD readout I have to do now. 1.6TDI with mad XDS won't be quite as exciting as yours though
Only thing about MFD reading is if I want to go abroad![]()

There is no XDS on the pre fl.I think so yeah![]()
Why would it make it better to set higher? Surely they are all set the same?
XDS is set to strong only on the FWD cars that have 345mm brakes as standard across the VAG range ( e.g Rocco R, Cupra/R ). The XDS works by braking the inside wheel when cornering to improve turn in and provide better traction on exit, so the brakes are being worked harder and get hotter than normal, which the 345mm brakes can handle with ease. The cars with smaller brakes only have it set to normal because they will suffer from more brake fade when you are gunning it, especially on the track. Then there is also extra brake wear which comes as a result, but in reality you are not going to be hammering it everywhere/every day and is obviously only a small trade off for the better corning abilities
Another free VCDS mod that I would suggest is the brake assist/booster that alters the signal to the brakes to provide a little more pressue than you request on the brake pedal, this gives the feeling of more responsive brakes. When I sold my car and put it all back to standard settings, I noticed how the brake felt mushy and crap again once I turned it off. It's worth a go and if you don't like it then just swap it backIt works like a more aggressive throttle map does, except on the brakes
It's not a big of a difference to feel as the XDS is, but every little helps.
Still poop compared with a mechanical LSD
