I'm about to buy 2 new Eagle F1 GSD 3's for my LC to replace my nearly worn out pirelli p-zero rossos. I've already got 2 GSD 3's on the rear and noticed they aren't XL rated. I noticed that there is the 'normal' GSD 3's and the XL rated ones on www.mytyres.net

Knowing what I know now I should have probably bought XL rated ones last time round.

1.) Question is does it really matter?

2). Will it matter in terms of handling or safety if I have 2 normal rates GSD 3's on the, say back, and two new XL rated ones on the front or vice versa.

There are numerous reasons why it matters... but high speed safety and control is one of the biggest. Downforce makes your car heavier at speed than when standing still, so if you're tyres can't cope with those sort of forces, you're running a big risk!
 
there was a massive discussion about this a couple months back. I dont think it would make too much difference, after all they do have a high speed rating, meaning they been tested at high speeds to be safe.
 
As a rule of thumb I believe the number 91/97 defines whether XL is required;-

e.g 225x40x18 91Z would indicate XL / reinfiorced not required.

but 225x40x18 97Z would indicate XL/ reinforced IS required.

If people are after cheap tyres fitted on your door step I have had two sets fitted by etyres.co.uk recently with excellent service and cheap prices
