Is it any good?

Should i get the 5w/40 fully synth or the new track day 5w/50 fully synth

Its to go in a 2001 cupra

Cheers

i wouldn't bother using cheap crap. but i was wondering whats the best to use as mine needs servicing.

But its not cheap! Around £32 I think, Plus i doubt its crap.

My local Halfords dont do any other 5w/40 though so I dont have much choice

Oh sorry. I thought u meant just the cheap halfords stuff!!!!

Yeah i meant i used the cheap halfords stuff. ie 5 litres for a tenner!!!!! I think it was 10w40. So for the cupra it's 5w40 fully synthetic?????

Wots 5w50??

i thought that the new fully synth halfords range would be rubbish like most own brand goods but apparently the range has been getting great reviews. try and get a halfords trade card and u should get it mucho cheapo...

all oils have to meet standards, so any 5w40 fully sinthetec oil will be exactly the same as any other, thats y halfords oil isnt that cheap compared to other oils, 32.99 for halfords oil, 42quid for castrol edge and all your paying for is the name, end off, oil is made in he same process, same factory then sold, in different bottles,

£19.50 With the halfords trade card for the 5w40 ;) plus its made to the same spec as the castrol oil as i checked it yesterday :)

jonesya... how u get a trade card?

as simple as showing a company cheque book or sumic?

I work for halfords matey :) but if you go in with oily hands and clothes just say your a part time mechanic or something and that you do jobs for friends and family on there cars and they will give you a trade card ;)

You get discount on parts, manuals, tools ect its a good thing to have

stick to 10 40 or 5 40, my turbo seals went within weeks of changing to the trackday oil they sell, im not saying it caused it but if your turbo is weak in any way watery oil will exagerate it, im sticking to slightly thicker oem stuff from now on.

I work for halfords too, did a check on our oils and its made by comma, meets all the standard and its VAG 500,501 etc approved like the edge.

I personally use the castrol in mine, but the own brand is pretty decent.

As for the trade card, yeah like the other dude said, just go in with mucky hands an old oil filter and say you work for personal use and you will probs end up walking out with one
