Front brakes on Lcr

im running ferodo ds2500 pads with AP 2 piece discs. Just back from the Nurburgring and brakes stood up well to the abuse. The discs are really noisy though when used hard. Good setup for road as they work well when cold.

LCR pads

We use Mintex pads without any issues on the Brembo setup, though we run AP 330 discs. Prices are on the site I think. See:- http://www.drivertuition.com/LeonCupraBrakes.htm

With the APs you get a little more noise but much better retardation and no warping issues.

i have only heard good things about the AP 330 2 piece disc conversion, but for about £700 delivered in the link above its a hell of a lot of money, and thats without the pads!


when my front discs/pads need changing in a few months time i guess il be looking for an upgrade to OE spec... was thinking of feredo 2500 fast road pads and then some drilled or grooved discs.


but i do like the idea of also upgrading to a slightly bigger disc size from the OE 232mm discs.

are there any other options out there bar the 330mm AP ones?


also just looked on ETKA.. OE discs are £117.91 which isnt as bad as what i expected! i know matt/smoothuk got his new discs grooved for about £50 (was £2 a grove i think)

but dont forget about GSF car parts... im sure someone said the OE discs are about £100 from them

Bills doing 2 piece 330mm discs for about £500 all in, including delivery.

To me, i personally wouldnt spend that on a pair of brake discs, its ludicrous money! I have Bills grooved 323mm discs and i think they cost around £150 each but £300 is a hell of a lot better than £500.

Braking is vastly improved with a decent fluid and some fast road pads along with discs being grooved. My braking improved a hell of a lot by changing these.

Whats the reason for wanting 330mm discs? Is it bigger =better because remember it is still under the same braking force from the 4 pistons. A 7mm increase in size is not really going to be noticeable to the eye either.

id like bigger discs as a they look cool and b they should disperse the heat better!


looks like il just go for drilled or groved 323mm discs with fast road pads and decent fluid then! should get all that done for about £200 - £250 depending on whether i go for the feredo or cheaper pads (mintex/ 1455 galpher etc)

Where you getting the discs that cheap?

Are you sure they are 323mm LCR discs and not 312mm LC discs!

The 312mm discs do fit onto the LCR so beware, many companies advertise LCR 323 discs but actually mean LC312.

Bills grooved 323 discs are circa £150 each and £100 for DS2500 making it around £400.

Brake fluid (Superdot 4, has a higher boiling point) about £15.

There are some 323 discs on ebay at the moment and they are the brembo drilled disc. I think they are located down your way aswell.

Although i have heard bad things about drilled discs

well the OE discs from SEAT are £118 according to ETKA (just looked!)

and about £50 to get them grooved.

and i have seen mintex pads for about £50 or the fast road galpher ones for £55


so about £220 + fluid. so round it to about £250 all in

You sure its £118 for the pair mate? I was told it was per disc price when i looked at buying them from SEAT direct. Not unless prices have drastically gone down, i fear that may be for individual disc mate.

If they are LCR 323 discs sold as a pair, thats a cracking price

Dawn quoted me about £205 inc vat but plus postage.

The price they've quoted you James is per disc. If it's not I'll have a set top!

20 quid a disc at hi spec motorsport to groove them thats what i did i didnt really see the point in spending big money parts that will need changing every 2 to 3 years

The AP discs may seem expensive but they were born out of necessity. A set of OEM discs had given their best after only one session and clients don't really like driving with vibration from badly warped discs. Obviously the car is driven hard but these APs for us have worked out as a cheap solution in the lon run. The idea wasn't to sell discs it was just to get a solution to track braking. Once the bells are bought the rotors come in at under £200 each side and are an off-the-shelf item. You could go up to about 345mm discs on these bells without a problem, but we weren't after a big disc style thing. What we have now is a car that brakes very well without braking issues having to be considered.

i have literally just done a price update on it (now have price update no. 281) and it says the discs are £117.91

under quantity it says 2!!!!

Let us know when you get them and if you do get them at that price. Hopefully its not a mistake. If it is the correct price, i think ill order myself a spare set before theyve noticed they've made a pricing mistake lol

Thats the kind of price SEAT quoted me for 1 disc when i had to replace mine, although was a year ago now.

According to bens sig, looks like 8 grooves mate. They do look good, you can see the grooves in mine on my avatar pic <<<<<<<

i wont be changine my brakes until my current ones die, prob around new year i would guess!

THey are now realy bad and I am just waiting for the pads to go down before getting new pads and disks.

Noting everyones coments on hear I think I shall give them another call, obviously it is the pads not the disks.

I have neverhad a set of disks go like this before and I am far from happy at it costing me a new set of disks afte rless than 20K miles

definitely worth another complaint, but i guess with brakes etc warranty is non existent!

Agreed on the track at Donnington my discs were warped and vibrating like hell after a few decent laps.

I would however recommend an alternative pad;-
Performance Friction is the make and it's their Carbon Metallic pads, no extra scoring on standard discs and much improved bite and feel, they are excellent on track.

There is a significant increase in brake dust though

Fingers crossed! Have you actually called and Garages about them?

Dawn at ted johnson quoted me just over 200 included vat for a pair not so long ago so hopefully the prices have come down.
