Tyre Width Question.

Collected my seat sport super T`s today 2 of them have near new tyres on them, but the other 2 are close to the limit i know the standard cupre wheels are 195 and the T`s are 205 but is it possible to put a 195 tyre on to a 205 rim as the 2 rear tyres on my cupra wheels are also pretty new if it is possible would it cause any problems, also what problems would it cause haveing 195 at the front and 205 at the back or vice verse.

the rim is 7" wide (not 205)

You can fit 195's on them - especially if you want to kerb the wheels.

Running a narrower tyre on the front will result in more understeer

narrower on the rear = more over steer...

So is it advisable or not? just thought it would save me a few pennies for a few months, as for kerbing im pretty carful when i park up any how, i dont drive fast around bends so the understeer oversteer factor shouldnt be a problem i guess?

If your talking about the tyre breadth (across) it wont cause you any problems. But legally you cant have two different tyres on the same axle. i.e 195/45/16 on the front left wheel and 205/45/16 on the front right wheel would be ilegal.

But yes you can have 205/45/16 on both the rear wheels and then have 195/45/16 on both the front wheels.

When I fitted (deliverately) 205's on the front & 195's on the rear it was noticeable. All depends on your driving really.

I guess the honest answer is 'not adviseable'

Thats exactly what i was looking to do cheers, even tho its not advisable i guess im gunna do it till i need new tyres as there eagle F1`s on my cupra and same on the T`s so would be a shame to waste them /sell them. then ill get 205`s to replace the 195`s Cheers.

you may need to check MOT legality of wider front than rear tryes..

I have all manner of sizes on my ibiza at times..
usually black and round tho.
