Just a passing thought........

There are loads of threads around at the minute regarding slipping clutches on the Leon FR TDI's after a remap.

I was thinking...................The Cupra R clutch must be able to handle a whole lot more BHP & torque as standard than the standard TDI clutch, are the 2 clutches the same or different?, and would the cupra r clutch fit the TDI ? - would it make any difference what so ever ?

Ta

I dont know mate..But, some interesting Information..I friend of mine has a G60 flywheel, and VR6 cluthc in his mk4 Golf gti. Same engine as LC...and it fits and works well with his 293bhp.

You'd be surprised whats fits..so it may.

The TDI FR has about 30 more lb's of torque standard than the Cupra R does. (Dont think the Cupra R one goes over 300lb with a remap either)

So they probably have a similar, if not the same clutch.

You can get them cheaper than £700 if you look around mate. Plus helps if you have mates who can fit them :D

Are they both hydraulic clutches? My clutch is perfect according to SEAT, just had it in yesterday for a whole day of testing etc and they cant fault it. Ah well looks like the maps staying turned off as the thought of dropping nearly 1k on a clutch is out of the question financially unless i win on the scratchcards :)

Will anything else fit from the vag range like the new Octavia vrs diesel clutch, thats rated for 170bhp/350lb.
Or if you buy a new clutch from Seat have they modified it due to the problems?

I hope there is a cheaper option, I just can't lay out a whack of cash at this time of the year

Is your under warranty Chris? Can you not get the map pulled back a bit for the winter and then look at a clutch in the new year. I would only do it if i could get one fitted for around £400 anymore is too much for me, ive other things i would rather buy than a clutch really. Much rather have a set of 18" RS6's and a new exhaust with an oval tip.

Yea car is still under warranty for another 18 months - doubt they'd do anything about it though as it's a wear & tear part !

I could get the map restricted a bit, but it's a 100 mile journey to the mapping place & I really cannot be @rsed lol

Anyways, I've got a conservatory to get built before xmas......

Just been looking at the new 07 WRX's on the allbrandsnew sire for £16k !!!!

Wear and tear it is but if they see it slip they would i assume do something about it, aslong as the mileage isnt sky high i suppose. Mine wont slip in stock so im snookered with warranty. How bad is it slipping now? I found mine a pleasure to drive again with it switch off tbh as it just felt nicer (not as fast of course though) I realise you cant get yours turned off though i dont think.

Would you buy the clutch then take it to a garage? Also do yu need to do the flywheel aswell or is it all part fo the same thing.
