LCR Front Pads - Anyone tried Mintex or ATE?

Hi all,

I was just looking to buy a set of Front brake pads for me LCR....

Has anyone here tried Mintex or ATE pads..? Am I right in thinking that ATE is 'OE' anyways?

Well - They are around £50 from Euro Car Parts - But I've just seen some Mintex ones on e-Bay for £25. - But there are two types for the LCR...? One says: 'ATE' and the other says 'Brembo'..

I'd apply that same logic to tyres too. It wont seem a really bad idea to skimp, until you're parked in the back of somebodys car.

I don't really want to skimp - I just don't want to pay 'Main Dealer' prices.

...more importantly - I want to make sure I'm buying the correct pads

I don't know if you have noticed, but somebody was selling a set of Red-Dot pads for the LCR on this forum. Not sure if they are still around, but they might be worth looking at as they were going for a good price.

Cool thanks - But I prefer Mintex or ATE... as these are more widely used.

More widely used?

Mintex have been used by a few people with LCR's, some decent reviews by LC owners but the LC pads are bigger than LCR believe it or not. Therefore the LCR pads are smaller and they are working harder in the Brembo calipers. From stories I have read / people I have spoken too the Mintex pads smell, get very very hot on the road and disintegrate on track.

I don;t know anyone who has used ATE so not sure how widely used they are

my advice would be to get some ferodo ds2500 they are superb pads and seem un fadable the hotter they get the more they bite i have them on the LCR and on my track 309gti and can't recomend them enough. unlike the standard pads which are useless and fade after 5 minutes of hard driving

I'd second that, they were the best compromise I found.

Yes Bill does the Ferrodo's

You'll need to ask him about the rears

ferodo do rears yes, £60+vat for em, my opinion is std OE quality ones (like made by pagid) are adequate for the rears, and far cheaper.

fronts are £90+vat in ds2500.

they dont have wear sensors however so wiring the wear sensor leads together extinguishes the indicator lamp.
