cupra turbo screaming!!!

on the way home from work this evening my turbo when it kicks in sounds like it is squeeling screaming kinda raspy noise really hope it aint the bearings i always let it warm up and warm down dont know if seat will replace under warranty as i have a baileys dumpvalve ne thoughts what it could be!

is it easy to feel a leak if turbo is not boosting because i cant hear anything when its ideling it sounds like its right next to the bulkhead would it be the hose that goes from turbo to airfilter???

My 20VT FR made a noise very similar to what your describing, only whilst accelerating and never when stationary and rev'd - dealer said the cat had split - replaced it and all was quiet - for a few weeks then it worked itself loose - then I traded it in!

if it is thats top becuse i want a full milltek and sports cat could be my excuse that i !need! 1 how can i diagnose if its the cat

No idea mate, mine was all diagnosed and fixed under warranty!

take it too dealers asap if it is a hose ( they rubbish) them they repair it, if you leave it it could damage the turbo,

take it in ASAP!
p.s a boost leak you'll feel the car hitting a wall type thing, when my turbo went it screamed like a cat! got a vid somewhere i'll try find it

When my cat went the noise was like when the fan belt on older cars goes loose, but with a kind of whirring noise! Not a good description right enough!

rash does it make a soft feathery noise when you are pootling along on half pedal but when you floor it you dont seem to be boosting properly and it screeches? if so search here for my posts on my old turbo, if not its probably not as bad as it sounds.

Could be your turbo which is loose. It happened to mine about 6 months ago. Take it to the dealers and tell them you think its the turbo to manifold bolts that are loose and make them change the bolts. I had mine in 3 times before I told them what to do!!

it does sound just like this it got alot worse this morning and i can hear its the exhaust it sounds like a tractor when engine is cold and when your accelerating! its booked into the stealers on tuesday get a new 1 then like a week later ill be taking it back off for the sports cat and downpipe and full milltek! and sell the new standard 1! cnt sell a blown 1!!!

turbo manfilod bolts has happened to many of us mine made a horrid screaming when on boost then it just got worse and louder just on tick over
id put money on it mate

could be this aswell as it wud sound like an exhausts blownbut the n oise has always been there just very quite just thought it was an accuired sound! but yesterday it just went like it was a cracked cat blown exhaust will find out tuesday will get front lights tested then too!

i bet it turbo manifold bolts they all seem to go very high pitch scream well it was on mine

if tractor then its turbo bolts, Call the AA they will sort it for you, mind never did it again once the AA tightened them up for me

the turbos falling off...

mine did this mine fell off and was haning on the downpipe... broke all the oillines.. soo yea get it sorted take it to seat.. they did mine
