tyres a pain

my bf good rich have done 9000 now and stilll have 5mm left on them. my car needs the wheel alignment checked every 6-8 weeks it seems to go out very easily maybe its a fault with them most of my driving is on motorways. im sure the toyo's are very good but do take a look at the bf goodrich they are great value for money and they stick to the road wet or dry

If you've a Mk4 Ibiza, might be worth getting your front lower suspension bushes checked, they are a common failure - you shouldn't need to be getting alignment checked that often especially if you drive on smooth roads most of the time, it suggests something is worn.

had the bushes checked at agnew seat they said they were ok had to get the rear struts and bump stops replaced recently. i am putting it down to the lovely states our roads are and the fact the suspension would knock your teeth out its that hard:) :) :) :)

ended up getting 4 Kumho SPT KU31's fitted and balanced today for £250
they've got great reviews from what i can see http://www.1010tires.com/tirereviews/Kumho_Ecsta_SPT_(KU31)_tire_reviews.html just google em yourself!
My first impresions are... bloody hell there sooo much better than the turenza's, road noise at 80 is like the bridgestones at 30. Grip on a cold damp day like today well i couldn't fault them. very impressed the only trouble is i was told my tracking is miles out at the front because the olds tyres were uneven, so i'll have to pay another £50 for the local 4 wheel tracking specialist to do there stuff:cry:

Anyone tried Avon ZX3's?

Hi

Had a mk2 golf and my dad has a C max, had Avon zx3's fitted on both

Seemed to give a massive amount of grip on both, (had 16's on the golf) and had a nice tread pattern, seemed to give fairly long life even though driven hard.

Any comments would be useful! :)

Got a 130 TDI FR will need to be findin some tyres with solid edges to compensate for lots of roundabouts!

Cheers

Yep, think I mentioned these above. Really good tyres. Kumho seem to be a little known brand who are going places. I had them on my Fiesta and they were really dependable. Give loads of confidence in the wet.
That's a comparable price to mytyres - they are £50.60 on there for 205/45/16's and then you need to get them fitted.
I'll be replacing mine with either these or the Vredestein Sportrac's.......or the Marangoni Zeta Linea if I can find out any info on how good they are. They look the absolute mutts.

Hi ok cheers

My dads got 280nm torque i beleive, or somethin close (tdci) so mayb its cos the corvette was rwd with way too much power through them...
The grip they used to give on my golf was amazing, so just wondered what other people thought :)

Cheers

Well here's the thing.

I can get Toyo Proxes T1R for £70 per tyre
or
Kumho KU31 for £62 per tyre

What to go for?

Dont fancy Pirelli's again though.

I have gone through 3 sets of tyres nearly in 23k miles almost. The first set of Dunlops lasted me all of about 7k miles, were extreamly **** in the wet, and that was with normal power, i then had a set of toyo proxis t1s i think they were in 215/40/17's that i got for £400 along with a set of Ibiza cupra 17's, they lasted maybe 6k miles after switching front to back at 3k miles. During this time though i had had a hybrid turbo fitted so was running over 200 bhp and over 300ftlb torque. I then got some bridgestone patenzas (admittably they were probably the **** ones) but in the dry they were good, but the side walls were very very soft, so took them off very quickly. I then got some rs6 wheels off sisson for £185 along with 3 nearly new tyres, so just put a spare bridstone patenza on it and the side walls are very good on the tyres that they had on it, the side walls have lasted, and have done about 8k miles on the front ones, without swapping them to the back.

where you originally running turenzas or patenzas, turenza's are good in the dry but shocking in the cold or wet. patanza's are supposed to be very good all round

yeah had turenzas to begin with when i got the car brand new, then changed to patenzas as they were supposed to be good, apparently there is a few different types of compound patenzas, so may have possibly got the shitter ones.
