Heh... technically I never compared the two, like-for-like. I realise the Cupra has the edge in pretty much every way. Hence why I'm pursuing one of the Cupras for sale in the For Sale section. Fingers crossed.

The Stilo Abarth is a nice car, IMO. But I don't want to be caught out by the usual Fiat problems. Electronics aren't superb on their run-of-the-mill models, let alone the computer with wheels car that is the Stilo Abarth.

Sigh. Nevermind. The 2.4 straight-5 appealed, momentarily. But you lot dashed my hopes, quite expertly... (to quote Futurama). Hehe. Ta for the advice though guys, although I'd of hoped the word "shite" would of featured less :p

Lol. You bunch of mugs :p

If I say it was all a big joke, would it be too late to save some reputation? :p

But seriously... the car appealed.. the price, the look, the engine.. it's performance wasn't mentioned favourably in any review I found online. (Odd for a "hot-hatch", eh?) But the issues of reliability were mentioned.. frequently.. the Stilo Abarth has moved away from the Fiats of old, apparently.

Nevermind, the search continues ....

:<

still crap

your rep.....? safe, its good to talk

An honest opinion regarding Alfa/Fiat/Lancia is stay well clear, either that or just buy one and get it out of your system. After you've owned it for a year you will understand what i mean. I know i did it.
Reminds me of a joke a saw im a magazine for the Alfa Romeo owners club - the advetisment read "Why not push your car to one of our meetings"

The accountant at work has a 156 V6. I asked him yesterday whether he'd had much luck, electrics wise. He said it was fine, no real problems. We spoke a little further, and bit by bit I learned it'd had 5 major electrical breakdowns since he bought it, new.

Hehe, apparently it's a running joke between him and his boss. Always ripping the piss out of the car and its many "quirks". Most recently, he had problems with the drive-by-wire system. He loves it though.

With regards to the "Why not push your car to one of our meetings" comment, that really made me chuckle :D Always good in a silent office :p

You may think us a bunch of mugs but bitter experience counts for a lot when making adecision about somthing
A few years after my own Italian car experience i test drove another (time had dulled the pain a little). Unfortunatly part of the dash board fell off while i was test driving it to which the salesman replied "Don't worry we'll stick it back on later".
The Fiat may well be a fine car to behold and drive, i wouldn't know iv'e never driven one. But you just know the after a couple of years the chances are it's going to turn into a dog!

The main thing that keeps me thinking about this car is the prescence of the Abarth additionals + tuning. Honestly. If it was a Fiat Stilo 2.4 .... full-stop I'd of kept looking elsewhere.

My best mate at uni had a Bravo Abarth and it was crap - fell apart, rear window wiper would have a mind of its own, clutch slave cylinder, head gasket, dash board electrics of lighting, all went wrong, pieces of turd imo, would never touch one

Well, I can see you don't work for Fiat, Chris :p

What you've said seems to be the underlying message behind everyones advice/opinions. Put eloquently, they've definite reliability and build quality issues that constantly **** you off.

Correct? :p

It was the extermely desirable Delta Intergrale that got me all worked up about wanting to own a Lancia. Mine as it turned out, was ****, but never mind.
Incidently a while back on that channel 5 car show they put an albeit aging integrale around a track and timed it against a fairly ordinary Japanese family hatch (can't remenber what it was).. and the Integrale lost, how times change.

Seriously WiCkiD best to admire the Stilo from a distance

Yeh, advice noted, Wickman. I'm gonna keep away from it for the time being, at least. Stick with that I've already researched, me thinks,
