I had a non resonating Milltek on my PD Cupra and now on my Audi and both sound great.![]()
Not much loader then the stock exhaust when motorway driving. So not too loud and annoying on long motorway journies?
mufflerectomy![]()
Yea but you can put a silencer on it and get a nice clean sound. Hearing it first hand from Slicks car its sounds really good and not to in your face...
Ok..I am just going from the Mufflerectomy thread unclefester started as he got pretty god results with the silencer. If you put a silencer on the back it`s not a mufflerectomy ie removing the muffler you have a normal after market exhaust ? The PD160 Cupra has one muffler on the stock system and so does my Audi.

Slick done a similar thing and having heard it first hand it does, sound very good.
Ok cool thanks for letting me know then...Putting a bigger bore exhaust with a free flow back box on will give the car more power and depending on taste and how you have the exhaust made make it sound better, BUT a mufflerectomy is an exhaust with no muffler. Ectomy ; Function: noun combining form
Etymology: New Latin -ectomia, from Greek ektemnein to cut out, from ec-, ex- out + temnein to cut .A mufflerectomy is just another trendy thing people say they have on thier cars when in fact they don`t know what it is really or what it means. Anyone with an exhaust with a backbox / muffler ( USA ) on does not have a Mufflerectomy done to thier exhaust they have had an after market exhaust fitted the same as everyone else simple as that.
No no I wasnt I am glad you took the time to explain it to meThats OK mate hope you don`t think i was having a go at you as i wasn`t.![]()
I just get fed up with hearing people on site saying they have this new trendy mufflerectomy fitted to their car which when they had it done they found out it sounded shite and drones like hell when driving on a motorway so they put a backbox on it and still rave on on how great a mufflerectomy is and how they have had it done to their exhaust.![]()
I am just quoting from memory and I may very well be wrong. He has posted what he has done in a post somewhere...Now you know and if Slick has had a backbox put on his exhaust tell him he is a muppet if he still thinks he has had a mufflerectomy and if he has a problem with it to PM devonmikeyboy or read this thread.![]()
its a from the CAT back, the cat is still in there due to i dont want to much noise.... still has a roar on full chat and has a lovely whistle turbo noise on blipping the throttle.....

lol guys
I had this done but also had the cat removed at the same time - way TOO much noise. Now agreed, had i kept the cat but just had the backbox removed it would have been a true 'mufferlectomy' but in practice it was too loud so i had a very small silencer fitted to cut out the top end rasp.
With the benefit of hindsight and on hearing cars that HAVE a cat and NO backbox, they sound almost identical to mine - i love the sound that i've got although the way in which i got it was a little different to a mufflerectomy but it was this procedure that initially attracted me to it.
Of course the unseen benefit of a very small silencer at the back was that the Eibach ARB fitted without fouling the OE backbox so despite a wander around the doors i'm still happy with where i ended up
When people say it sounds as good as one of the 3 times as expensive main brand names, that just puts the icing on a very cheap cake.
Devonmikeyboy, is it worth getting a full miltek exhaust system then?
